Chris sounded professional enough. After spending 10 minutes on the phone he said that he was too busy for the time-frame that I needed for my project, even though I stated it exactly on my project description on Buildzoom.com. For that reason, he declined to quote.

We picked Chris for our first house remodel because of his attention to detail. Before giving us a quote, he already brought in each sub-contractor to see our place and found several important points that we had overlooked and would have cost us a lot if undiscovered. Other contractor's quotes increased significantly once we pointed those to them.
During the project, Chris was on site nearly every morning (before I left for work) to ensure we and the subs knew what was happening that day and to predict any difficulty before they impacted the project.
The communication was great. Chris was responsive, proactive in warning us about decisions we would have to make, and he always spoke frankly about what choices he recommended and the impacts they would have on our budget and final result.
Chris was frank in acknowledging which domains he had most experience in, and where he needed input. As we cared deeply about soundproofing and this wasn't Chris' expertise, he welcomed input from us and his sub-contractors. This openness led to awesome results: we can't tell if someone is speaking loud in any adjacent room.
Chris was flexible and a great listener. He was patient when we were worried or picky, like ensuring the tint and touch of the hardwood was exactly like we wanted it.
Overall, Chris was exactly the patient, open, frank, caring, skilled and detail-oriented contractor we needed for our first remodel experience.
