By James U.September 9, 2015Construct garage40 daysBreach of Contract
The contractor Chad Chronick of Chronick Renovations (state contractor's license #PA088542 ) was fully paid for contracted garage June 2015, he did not complete the job now September. Chad's contract demanded a prescribed weekly payments which I followed, There were sequential weeks he did not show up to the project but still was paid for. When Chad did show up, it was 3-4 days of that week and only from 11 am -12 noon then left around 3-4 pm. NO weekends or holidays were ever used to catch up on the project timing. The project was to take 6-8 weeks, project started in March 2015 Chad stopped work on the project July 2015. Chad stated to me in May that 3-4 weeks more. Chad has repeatedly put off work that could have furthered the project completion. Chad has repeatedly failed to finish or order parts to complete the project. Chad does not follow up on the correctness of finished work, promise after assurances, excuses, lead to the payments out pacing the work. I am seeking restitution to pay another contractor to complete the unfinished project.

I hired Chad Chronick after an insurance claim for water/ice damage back in 2011. The work he did was below standard and he cut costs and used cheap products which eventually failed and I am right back in the same position I was before I hired him. There is extensive damage to my house due to a bad install. I have been trying to contact Chad since April 2012 and have sent text messages, left voicemails, and even left messages on his Facebook. He has not responded to any of my correspondence. NOT THE PERSON OR COMPANY THAT YOU WANT TO HIRE!

Chronick Renovations completed a basement remodel for us. They did solid work and completed sooner than estimated.
I was pleased that Chad returned my calls fairly promptly; and, he came out to give us a estimate in a timely manner... (I'm still waiting on call backs from two other contractors I called:-/) he was understanding when we requested to remove some things from the itemized estimate, because we planned to some DIY projects; he removed that which was requested respectfully and without pressure.
Overall, we are very pleased with his teams' work, and we will plan to utilize their services again in the future.

I would not use this contractor to change a light bulb. CHAD CHRONICK WAS TO COMPLETE REPAIRS TO MY HOME FROM A HOME OWNERS CLAIM IN JUNE 2012. HE REC'D >$6000. WORK WAS NOT PROFESSIONAL AND WAS NOT DONE CORRECTLY, BUT THIS WAS NOT KNOWN AT THE TIME HE WAS PAID. * KITCHEN SINK PLUMBING /DRAINS NEEDED CORRECTED ( I paid $200 for a plumber). *drywall that was over the tub was cracking and peeling after only a year. *trim between the kitchen/DR needed fixed as it had gaping holes. *KITCHEN FLOORING THAT HE INSTALLED-(OVER OLD CARPENTING THAT WAS NEVER REMOVED )- HAD 3 AREAS THAT WERE SEPARATING- also less than a year OLD. *A KITCHEN CEILING FAN WAS MOVED AND DOES NOT WORK- UNABLE TO BE REPAIRED. *game room ceiling tile REPLACED ( FOR THE 3RD TIME IN OCT 2014- CHAD REPLACED TWICE HIMSELF BEFORE JOB WAS COMPLETED) . * week of (11/14/14) having found that I can not even use my shower or bath tub as there is a soggy mess behind the tub surround AND DOWN THE SIDES OF THE SHOWER and caved in and and the leak from the pipes in bathroom that ruined my game room ceiling in the first place, is still leaking and causing more damage. He has not responded to my texts, emails or calls. lets see if he responds to the magistrate.

The contractor abandoned a new double garage building project after getting paid for the project and left the work unfinished. Neither Chad Chronick, the business owner, nor Tina Costa, the project manager, responded to repeat voice messages, text messages, or e-mails inquiring about the project. The contractor diverted orders for new garage doors that were already paid for, from delivery to my home where the garage is being built, to his own home. He also did not deliver specially ordered and paid for specialty roof tiles for the mansard. The garage roof is incomplete and prone to damage by the weather. Some of the critical work performed was shoddy and of questionable quality. Several items in the unfinished garage construction require reworking. One item in the garage construction illustrates the type of sub-standard work that this contractor performs. He installed a defective support column in the middle of the garage that compromises the structural integrity of the building. The column was not a part of the design as the contractor did not use the required steel beam for roof support nor did he use proper roof trusses. Thus adequate support for the roof required modification in the design. He had to install the column in the middle of a double garage to support the roof properly. The owner was not informed of this major change in garage construction. The contractor is dishonest. He is also incompetent and unprofessional. I have full documentation of the problems encountered with this contractor. DO NOT CONTRACT WITH CHAD CHRONICK OR CHRONICK RENOVATIONS FOR ANY PROJECT. THE CONTRACTOR IS NOT ONLY UNRELIABLE AND PERFORMS SUBSTANDARD WORK, BUT WITH THE PROJECT MANAGER TINA COSTA, MANIPULATES CREATION AND PADDING OF ADDITIONAL WORK ORDERS ONCE THE PROJECT HAS STARTED. BEWARE OF THIS CONTRACTOR.

My wife and I were in need of a major kitchen remodel and were referred to Chad (CL Renovations) by a friend. After discussing what we wanted with multiple contractors, Chad was the only one to come in at a price similar to our estimate and say "Yes we can do that and sure we can use the materials you'd like". The agreement to use what we wanted was what really meant the most to us. My wife and are not too fond of stuff you can get off the shelf at the local hardware store and Chad understood this, the fact that we wanted something different, and was willing to work with a the fact that everything might not always be there b/c it is in transit.
About the job: When I say major kitchen remodel I mean MAJOR. My wife and I live in a 1,800sqft ranch. We wanted to turn the kitchen, formal dining room, living, and front entry way into one giant entertaining room. On top of that, we wanted to flip the kitchen and dining room since the dining room was a bigger space. This involved tearing down 4 walls, 3 of which were load bearing and moving all plumbing (gas and water). Chad and his crew, removed the walls, installed structural beams to hold the weight, installed new cabinets, sealed up the old single back door, cut and installed a new back French door, 2 additional windows, new appliances, cabinets, granite, a 24sqft island, recessed lighting, pendant lights, painted, insulated, installed sliding hardware for a barn door in a closet, new hardwood floors throughout the entire house, crown molding, new hallway lights. But it was some of the small things and communication that made the difference. Chad recommended adding a second set of recessed lights by our new dining area, made a huge difference, he recommended an Italian glass tile for a back splash, helped bring everything together and is absolutely gorgeous, he went out of his way to skim the old plaster walls with mud to make them all smooth and match the drywall that was replaced in the kitchen and did the same thing throughout the entire house to ceilings to really make it look like it has always been one living space. It’s just absolutely amazing.
One last note. About 3 weeks into the job, mother nature decided to be a jerk and rip down our back awning and some of our gutters. I called the insurance company and they sent out the adjuster. Chad was able to convey what had happened, the extent of the damage, and provide the adjuster a quote on what it would take to fix it all on the spot. By the time I got home for work the next day, everything was settled and the mess was cleaned up. Living through a whole house renovation is incredibly tough and this was an extra stress that I didn’t really need. The extra help really just made a bad situation easier.
A year later our kitchen still looks spectacular. There was a bit of adjustment that was needed in the floor by the back door. Since it was installed in the winter, and expanded through the summer, it needed to be trimmed down b/c of the swelling. Chad came back out and corrected it in an afternoon no problem.
We ended up re-hiring Chad and his crew to totally replace the back porch and awning that had been destroyed in the storm with a massive 10x20 deck with a peaked covered pergola and a patio with some of the most amazing concrete work mixing traditional cement and exposed aggregate.
Currently the guys are working on a small job running new electric for a hot tub and we are planning on having them back to remodel our basement bathroom this spring and the upstairs basement next year.

They are quick to take your money, but will not return phone calls or emails
when there's a problem. I hired this company to do some concrete work for me and in less than 3 weeks, it was cracking and crumbling really bad. I was not looking for a refund at the time, just wanted it fixed. No one would return my calls or emails. Very disappointed with this company and will never refer ANYONE to them!
