    ThinkDesign Architecture (as it styles itself) was reliable, albeit not inexpensive. I had a good result with my basement/lower level project, and, yes, I would recommend them.

    ThinkDesign did an incredible job with the design. They truly gave us a unique design compared to previous roof raises done in the area. Unfortunately the buck stopped there.

    They recommended a contractor who was nothing short of a nightmare. He turned a 3 month project into a year and a half. We thought we were in good hands because we went with ThinkDesigns recommendation, but we were wrong.

    In the end we have been very unsatisfied with ThinkDesigns expedite. She is dropped the ball on us numerous times. Letting us know months late that we needed a final survey done, and that the DOB required us to resurface the asphalt, even though there was no damage done by us. We should have been informed of these things months earlier instead of waiting to the last minute and prolonging the inevitable. We ended up getting approved for the Asphalt waver, only after paying ThinkDesigns fees and going down to talk to DOT myself.

    After repeatedly telling ThinkDesign, that I already redid the concrete back in 2015 and that I was not redoing the sidewalk, because there was no damage, I still found myself holding their hand to make them call the chief at the DOB, to find out how to proceed cause we have been at a standstill for months with no signs of initiative or urgency on behalf of the expediter.

    This is a company we hired to design our project and expedite it to obtain our C of O, and numerous times I have been told be the owner that my problems weren't his concern even though my problems all stemmed from his concrete recommendation to use his contractor.

    Needless to say I am still waiting to get me sign off on the BPP (Builders pavement plan) and the C of O.

    In the end we love the work product of ThinkDesign, but have been very unsatisfied with the other services provided.

    For the time being it's an ongoing relationship so it's hard to say what the final outcome will be. But so far it's been a headache, delays and lack of responses.
    Hopefully it will change but for now I would not recommend this business.

    The project went well and I found Think Design to be affordable and generally reliable, and I would happily recommend them.

    We were in a unique situation where we were asking them to obtain a relatively simple permit, but we ran into a major complication (nothing having to do with Think Design) that took months to resolve, delayed their end of the project, and involved a good amount of time, troubleshooting, and advice on their part that was outside the original scope of work. Only once did they ask us for a small payment outside of the original estimate, when additional documentation was needed. While they were sometimes a little slow to get back to us during that time (which I actually think was fair), they always did everything we needed them to do and got us through the project!

    We worked with them on this project because they had a relationship with our plumber, and the only reason I might hesitate to use them again - and I admit that this is a super New-York-y comment! - would be that we are in Brooklyn and they are based in Staten Island, which is not easily reached by public transit. At times this caused delays when documents needed to be signed and countersigned, as it involved overnighting things back and forth rather than just going over there and taking care of it. It is also less convenient for them to stop by, though this wasn't too much of an issue in our case since it was a relatively simple permit. Also, dealing with a Brooklyn co-op was a bit of a new experience for them, since in Staten Island they mostly deal with single family homes.

We are currently involved with Phase 2 of the same project and Think Design Architecture are handling all design drawings and required permit applications with the DOB for expediting of the building permits.
