I had a really bad customer service experience with an employee at CityWide. Not sure if this is just due to one new employee not being fully trained on customer communications, or if this is an ongoing issue with other employees.
CityWide contacted me asking if needed some remodeling work. We scheduled a visit for Sunday, March 7th so they could prepare estimates for me. The company then called me back to reschedule for Sunday the 14th. I agreed to the reschedule.
Somebody named Simon showed up at my house at 3 PM on Sunday the 7th. I told him that the visit was rescheduled but he insisted on doing it right then. Having somebody show up on the wrong day indicates to me that the company doesn't have its internal communications ironed out yet.
Since I still had free time that afternoon, I allowed them to continue with the visit.
Simon came with a colleague of his. She was a young woman and I don't remember her name. He bossed her around right in front of me. I expect professionals to treat others with politeness whether those people are customers or colleagues.
Simon wore his face mask below his nose and sometimes below his mouth. I expect professionals to show concern for the health of their customers.
Simon did not bring a tape measure with him even though the task required one. I loaned him my tape measure. He ordered his colleague (did not ask her, but ordered her) to hold the tape measure. She stepped on it rather than holding it to the ground with her hand. Don't step on a customer's tools.
Simon then ran with the other end of the tape measure until it was past the end of the tape. That's not how you use tape measures. As you pull the tape out, watch that it doesn't go past the end.
Simon over-measured the size of a concrete slab by two feet in each direction. I asked why he over-measured and he said it was to make sure he got the correct amount of dirt to refill after the slab was taken out.
Simon asked me which company installed my solar panels and which company manufactured them. He then tried to convince me that my solar panels, which were made and installed within the last year, were inefficient. Maybe he said this trying to convince me to replace my solar panels, which I won't do since they were installed by a reputable company.
Simon then proceeded to try and explain why my panels were inefficient. I told Simon that I own 5 patents on solar panel technology. As an engineer who did research on solar panels, I don't need to hear his opinion on this subject. Simon felt it necessary to argue with a customer who knows more about a particular subject than Simon does.
I asked the woman and Simon to give me estimates on two other projects, but they blew that off without even trying. If the company doesn't do certain kinds of remodeling jobs, I prefer them to just tell me rather than ignore my request.
I asked Simon to write up a cost estimate for me. His write-up does not mention the company name, company phone number, or company website. It was written on simple piece of paper rather than a professionally prepared company notepad. Perhaps Simon could explain how I would contact the company without its name, phone number, or website.
This review will stay up for at least 1 year. If the company can convince me that it trains its employees on customer service, I will consider removing or editing this review.
