We had an unusual electrical problem ongoing from winter of '18 until about mid-May of '19. One circuit was tripping the breaker and we - through observation over time - determined that it happened when it rained. After a few days of drying out, the breaker would latch... until it rained again. Finally it stopped latching altogether.
Our front room ceiling fan, some overhead track lights, and our thermostat for the HVAC would cut out. Nothing else in our house was affected. As the weather was mild here in The Valley during that time frame we didn't really need either the heating, A/C, or ceiling fan, so we weren't panicking and it wasn't a big priority. But by mid-May we knew summer was just around the corner and we wanted to have the A/C back as it gets ridiculously hot in our poorly insulated 1957 house. Time to get the thing fixed.
We had a guy come out who gave things a cursory look and quoted about $4,000 to do a LOT of rewiring. The second guy - and I'll give him an 'A' for effort - spent about 3 hours trying to track down the glitch, but to no avail. Again, to his credit, he didn't charge me because the deal was he'd do a free estimate and he wasn't able to find the problem to give me the estimate. I was impressed enough with that work ethic to be possibly considering him for the job.
I decided to give it one more try and called Class Electric. VJ arrived on time and I gave him what information I could regarding the problem and its behavior. He took about 30 to 45 minutes to find the problem which had stumped everyone else. Excellent!!
He'd located some damaged exterior (ah-hah!) wiring and by mid-afternoon had it all fixed. It was in a difficult location and he totally corrected the issue.
I was completely satisfied with his work and the price charged was extremely reasonable... I told him that, as far as I'm concerned, we now have an electrician we trust for any and all future jobs we will have.
