We had a great experience with the Clearview team. Terri was friendly and professional through the whole experience. She continues to be helpful even years later when I have reached out to her with questions.

    New home construction
    $465,000

In summary: The most disappointing building experience I could imagine.

Recommendations: Avoid this company at all cost; and if you are already working with them, make sure you hire a really good knowledgeable inspector or preferably a civil engineer to oversee the entire project.

Our story: We worked with Terri during the early information sessions, she walked us through their model home, showed us some projects in progress and she was super helpful until the moment we signed. After that she treated us like garbage, ignored our requests and questions and completely switched her demeanor and to every issue we brought up she would just say that we would lose our deposit money and they could cancel the transaction if needed. Be ready to be lied over and over, expect contradictions and excuses and to be gaslighted by this person. Any customizations or changes? expect to pay 2 to 4 times the actual price and dont expect them to refund anything they would not need to use, every upgrade is full price on top of the original price without discounting the base price materials.

As of the construction process, they lack the most minimal project management process, they have no clue on when their sub contractors or the material will show up, they never order the materials when you do the selections and if they cant find the material you ordered a couple days before they have to install it they will force you to choose what they have in hand or pay the difference to buy from another supplier.

As of the level of craftmanship applied to the construction and finishing process, they just use the bottom of the barrel type of contractors or whoever is available. I'm not exaggerating but I'm sure anyone could do a better job renting the tools and DIYing the projects, expect anything from uneven tiles, crooked kitchen counters, huge humps and valleys on your flooring, uneven paint, electrical installation not up to code, leaky roofs, broken basement slabs, porch concrete and falling apart just weeks after closing, etc.

Sadly this company merely hires the contractors but wont supervise any of their work or final product, and the "project manager" or "construction supervisors" will try to tell that this the expected level of work and quality for a house like this. And good luck getting them to do any warranty work after closing!

You may think that this is just a bad luck experience but if you want to experience it first hand and get more opinions, feel free to come to the Eagle Ridge development on a weekend and ask anyone you see outside about their experience with Clearview. On the bright side, all the neighbors bond and break the ice right away sharing the experience they had with this company.

    Build a new home
    $500,000

EXTREME nepotism in this company. On this page there is a review from Kelly (owners wife) and Terri (sales manager) owners wife works in the office and handles most all final walk throughs. Terris husband granite company does the installing of the granite. DO NOT! I repeat, DO NOT! Build with Clearview homes. My husband and I signed our purchase agreement in February of 2021. At this time we were told by not only CV, but their preferred mortgage lender that once they broke ground, their timing was nearly 6 months to the T. While I understand Covid delays, the communication during our build was absolutely horrendous. From the time we signed, and renderings were sent for us to approve before sending to the city, they were sent and said "please approve these" with no instructions as to what they were for, or what we should be exactly looking at. My husband signed, and a day later I said "hold on a minute, there are a lot of mistakes on here" We built a Rockford with a corner fireplace. On our renderings, the fireplace was centered in the room, with a full porch as well (both things we did not ask or pay for) when we brought this up, we were told we would need to pay $750 because it had already been submitted to the city. Thankfully we hired a realtor prior to signing and they went to bat for us. It was very clear on our PA, our renderings were in fact wrong. Once this was corrected, we asked many many times when ground would be broken on our house. They had "no idea" it wasnt until June. During this process any questions we had were met with rudeness, followed by a snarky smiley face. During the build process, they tell you that you are "not allowed" to walk in your home, unless a visit is scheduled. Well, we visited every week, and good thing we did because many many many mistakes were made. Our butlers pantry wall was framed too short, so our counters stick out over the edge, Once our house was framed and a roof was on, we found a huge dip in the roof, how that got through, framing, sheathing, roofing, and not a single person thought "this doesnt look okay" is beyond me. At this same time we noticed they bricked an entire portion of our home that was supposed to be stone. When we brought it up, they again threw it back on us, and tried to get us to pay to not only remove the brick, but to upgrade to stone. While visiting the site one afternoon, we noticed a neighboring house had finished being sided, and had white siding. I said to my husband "I dont remember white being an option, was it an upgrade" He didnt recall either. When I called Terri and asked I was told "We dont give homeowners the option of white unless they specifically ask because the builder doesnt like it" Well thats great he is the one making decision on the house I am paying for. Because of this, we changed our siding color (not to white) and when I said to Terri "so sorry I am being that person" She said to my face "yea you are, its kind of annoying" from here it was delay after delay after delay. We were told cabinets were back ordered by months and then they magically came in 3 weeks early. We sold our home based on timing told to us by clearview, and asked for occupancy based on this. We did not receive a closing date until November, for end of January. When it finally came time for our garage doors to be installed, which we paid to be upgraded, they installed the wrong color. Again, how someone opened the box, assembled them, and put them on our house and didnt realize they were wrong is beyond me. We still do not have the correct doors (almost May). Leading up to closing and doing walkthroughs with CV, we found many many many issues. Crooked & chips tiles, different color grout, tub edges falling because it hadn't been properly secured. Where the AC comes out of the house, they very messily was cut too large and filled in with silicone. When asked if they would fix it, they just threw cement over it. Our screens were dented and scratched, the frame around a window was broken, there were missing shingles and shingles not well secured. The soffit trim pieces were cut too short exposing wood, a great area for critters to get into. Our electrical outlet near the front door was not outdoor rated. There were many more issues, we are so glad we hired a private inspector. Worst craftsmanship ever

Be cautious of buying a home from here. Two months in our home had to have all doors modified in order to close properly. We have had multiple outlets stop working. The customer service is nonexistent. We had a window scratched and were told no problem. Three months later no one from the company had given us an eta. We have left multiple voicemails and no response. Poor quality all around.

    House construction
    $500,000

Received our home a couple months ago and sadly we regret our decision using clearview so much, everything that could go wrong went wrong and we're left with a poorly built house and a 500k mortgage.
The sales staff is super helpful and nice to you until you finally sign with them, then they become pushy, rude, untrue or simply ignore you.

The construction team runs without proper supervision and makes major mistakes since there isn't any construction manager leading the project, there's a construction project manager that will only show up for the meetings but has no idea of what's really going on in your house, this company needs major micromanagement and sadly as a customer you have to turn into that kind of person if you want your house properly built, otherwise they will cut as many corners as possible, end up with uneven floors or major improvisations... at the end they'll justify saying it meets code however it will be ugly and clearly cheap.

I would NOT reccomend this company to anyone looking for a new home and if you made the mistake of signing with them you may be better off losing your down payment or just commit to micromanaging every step of the way.

    New Build

Building a house has many challenges including weather, suppliers, employees, materials and expectations. Clearview Homes has been very professional to work with. The owner is extremely involved with the company and knows about each house being built. Their sales/design team and trades people are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I would use them for my next home.

Absolutely horrible! We were told many things that were untrue but found out too late. The quality of the workmanship is by far the worst I have ever seen. When we brought it up, we were told "well it's really hard to find good help" along with a million other excuses. We paid 400k for a house with the quality less than a quarter of that. We were also told that they come out on our year anniversary of being in the home to do touch ups and check in on how things are. Well that day came and went over 4 months ago. The kitchen faucet and sink were not installed correctly, major leak and damage to the whole cabinet. Uneven walls, ceilings, all plug ins were crooked, unfinished spaces between tiles in the bathrooms, peeling paint inside, stones falling off the front of the house, doors that won't stay open....the list is endless. We have had to make many repairs out of pocket that should not have even be an issue. This business has no business having a license. This was supposed to be our retirement home, but we have decided that we will not retire in this home. I would be mortified to take people's money and dreams and turn them into nightmares like this.

    Build a home
    $550,000

One of the worst life experiences to date. We put in a half million into what was supposed to be our dream home, and the contractors were sloppy from start to finish! No accountability, very little communication, and a huge pain to get anything fixed. The bottom line is that nothing was done correctly to start with; every error should NEVER have happened—pure laziness! Our windows were crooked, no joke, our basement steps were cracked, some of our brick was the wrong color, they put in wrong selections for our door knobs, our sliding glass door was cracked because a carpenter accidentally let it fall, etc etc. We checked up on the progress every week only to find endless amounts of trash and filth, one of the contractors even took a huge diarrhea dump in our bathroom the week before closing! Completely unsanitary!!! When we called every one of these details to Clearview’s attention, the salesperson Chuck did nothing to help whatsoever. The foreman, Tyler, did his best but could not manage his shady contractors because he’s just in charge of too many homes over too wide a distance. In fact, Clearview charges $250 for any change request at any point in the construction process, even if their team made the selection error! This happened to us with the granite, the windows, and the freaking door knobs. We had to hunt down the owner’s phone number — he keeps it unlisted — to let him know all of these issues and he was like, “I guess you just don’t know what you want, do you?” Never, ever again.

Stay safe, never go with Clearview. The worssssssssssssssssssst builder ever. If you could build on your own, please do. I am sure you could finish it faster than them. One can build a statue of Liberty in the same time they take for building a small house. Unprofessional is a small word for them. No pro-activeness, no responsibility, customer means nothing for them. If I have the authority, I would cancel the license of this company based on so many complaints posted here. Avoid!!!

  • April 2, 2019

Worst building experience. Ever. The owner is shady, the construction manager and especially the contractors we had were completely incompetent. We had our floors and concrete replaced multiple times also. We had a list a mile long of errors and issues that needed to be fixed and that couldn't wait for the one year inspection, due to the dangers they posed. Some of the contractors informed us that they were behind getting paid for their work on other Clearview homes and were going to be severing their ties with the company as well. They also informed us that we were one house of MANY to have the issues we were having. They eluded to the fact that the builder was too wrapped up in building his own home to pay much attention to the contractors that were working on other homes. Save yourself the headaches and stay far away from this company. I wouldn't trust them to build a dog house at this point.

  • January 8, 2019

I would not recommend Clearview homes. We had issues with them from start to finish. We were provided an inaccurate move in date in order to get our sale. The selection process was terrible and had very limited selections. The quality of their work is questionable, currently we are dealing with uneven floors and our carpet has already begun to come up after moving in three weeks ago. Our home was filthy when moving in and workers had left behind nails, trash, large piles of brick in our yard. The owner does seem to be customer and quality focused.

    Build our home
    $300

Building a Clearview home is NOT anything I would reccomend. We closed in Holly MI, Dec 2017 and I have had numerous non-cosmetic issues since taking possesion. One of the biggest issues we have is the concrete. There are several cracks in the patio which clearview states are stress fractures and refuses to address. These are cracks that go completely through the corners of the patio. Same with the driveway and patio sidewalk. When I brought up a code violation regarding the sidewalk, their fix was to drill half dollar size holes in the slabs and fill them with some type of foam to raise it to the appropriate height. However, there are still noticeable and unsightly cracks where the sidewalk has snapped in several locations. And the addition of these gaudy holes where the cheap, quick fix was attempted. We upgraded to a level 3 carpet and pad and already within 8 months can feel the tack strips under our feet when walking on it. The carpet is nearly completely matted down. A down grade in my opinion. The large window above our entry has collapsed glass and even after 4 attempts has not been corrected. We made 3 scheduled appointments and all 3, they waited til day of to call and let us know they had not received the correct glass. The 4th time they showed up with the incorrect size window. Get it together already! While there have been some issues that have been addressed and fixed the work is done with extreme poor quality! Wish there were somewhere I could post pictures along with this review. If you are considering Clearview, Please do yourself a favor and find another builder!

We closed on our house in December of 2012 and have been having problems ever since. First we discovered that under our stairs in the garage it was filled with contractor debris which we never would have found unless we had not decided to use that area for storage. Secondly, we went to finish our basement and discovered that the basement studs where installed 24" on center instead of 16" which created problems in finishing our basement and not to mention that they had stuffed all the dry wall pieces behind the wall causing us to remove over half of the walls. Last of all when our water heater stopped working we had someone come out and fix it and they said it was past the warranty because the tank was over 3 years old when it was installed in our house. All I can say is be careful because when I emailed them about the water tank they replied that they have a 1 year warranty and do not check to see what the subcontractors are installing. The contractor who installed the tank no longer works for them. Please ask them for references on the subcontractors because they do use the cheapest subcontractors on their homes.

would NOT recommend this builder! One day after signing, I discovered that I qualified for a VA loan. After several months of trying to get a modified contract, I was unable to get one although they kept promising to do one. The VA mortgage agent could never get a response. We were supposed to  meet the building supervisor before construction, but the basement was poured before then which was 3 1/2 months later. We signed in August and framing didn't start till mid January. Because it was so late to get started, the gas and electric to the house couldn't be dug any deaper than 2 ft. Don't dare dig a hole for a bush or tree as you will cut into the gas and electric lines! Then their sales agent quit. When we complained about the slow progress, we were given a timetable, so we put our house up for sale. The foundation was never protected from the elements. The brick was put up in freezing weather without a plastic weather protection during curing. One of the stanchions for the support beams was placed at the middle of the basement stairs entrance and had to be moved. It was knocked down by a sledge hammer and moved over. The stairs had to be partially cut out because the furnace ducts couldn't get by. The thermal barrier Panels in the attic by fireplace were put up after being saturated with snow and mud. Then Eric demanded an April closing and more money after being told by the sales agent we didn't have to. He wouldn't hold off and we hadn't got an offer yet. So we had to back out and lose our $7500 deposit. This has been The House From Hell!
