I own four homes. Two in Nedonna Beach and two more in Manzanita. Because we don't live at the coast full time. It was difficult trying to find a professional painting contractor who I could trust with both interior and exterior painting work on all our homes. I had called several painters about coming out to look and bid on doing painting at each of my properties. Just getting a painter to show up was challenging to say the least. Two seperate painters who did finally show up were both over an hour late. One smelled of beer and the other didn't really seem to know what he was talking about and couldn't answer many of my basic questions on painting techniques he would use. Weird thing happened. A few weeks later I see this white van with Coast Painting signage in my neighborhood. I walked down and talked to Mark the owner of Coast Painting. I liked him right away. He was just starting on a neighbors home but said he would come up right then and talk to me about my properties in need of paint. Mark said he'd rather talk now before he got dirty so we could go over the information inside my house without me worrying about paint from his work clothes getting on anything in my house. Hmm, a conscience guy. That was different from the other painters already. Moral of the story; I had three houses that needed exterior and full interior painting and one house that only needed the exterior done. Over the next two days Mark and I had looked over all my houses. We discussed the best way to proceed with the painting. Mark explained the different types of paints that could be used for both inside and outside. He gave me and my wife three color bars from different paint companies to use in selecting our new colors. Once, the wife and I decided on colors, Mark made some good suggestions that caused us to change a color because it wouldn't have looked good with the carpet. Mark's bid(s) were professionally done and emailed to us. The bids were broken down for each house with paint color and codes spelled out for each interior room and exterior color. The bid clearly explained all the preparation work required before painting and how he would be applying the paint. Like spraying and back rolling two of the exterior houses because they were painted cedar shakes. Brush and rolling the interior, etc, etc. I knew exactly what Mark was going to be doing on each house. I hired Mark @ Coast Painting without getting another bid....Read above. Mark had to schedule each house in between other painting jobs he had already be hired to paint, so it took 2 months for him to complete all four of our homes. He did find some dry rot on one house that required repair but other than that Mark was painting non-stop. Quality of his work was excellent! The guy is a little bit of a perfectionist, which I guess is a good thing. I am not going to say how much it cost us but it wasn't cheap to get this many houses painted but the upside is my money was well spent using Mark at Coast Painting.
