Jordan Varrell (720-378-1135),Colorado's Finest Heating and Air Conditioning, always competently, quickly and effectively diagnoses our immediate issue and solves it. We initially called Colorado’s Finest solely based on online reviews; now I wouldn’t call anyone else. With every call, not only was the immediate problem solved, we received valuable expertise that I didn’t know to ask for. Our story…
Our HVAC system was 23 years old in June 2018. The A/C condenser was freezing up and failing to cool the house. Jordan estimated both replacing the entire HVAC system and only replacing the blower motor, which was the root cause of the A/C issue. I wasn’t mentally ready to spend the dollars to replace the HVAC system so I opted for the immediate fix: Immediate problem solved, the house was cool again. Jordan predicted that we would need to replace the entire system eventually but I gambled on getting a few more years out of it. He was never pushy about replacing the entire system but I would soon learn that his forecasts were much more accurate than mine. While working in the basement to replace the blower motor, Jordan discovered a small natural gas leak in a furnace valve that I had not noticed and showed me the reading on his detector. By finding and then fixing it, he may have saved our lives and our house.
In October 2018, my furnace was producing no heat because the furnace would not run. Jordan immediately discovered that the furnace exhaust fan had seized. As a fail-safe to prevent CO poisoning, the furnace will not run if the exhaust fan does not run. Again, he estimated both the immediate fix and system replacement options. Finally seeing that I would need to replace the system in the near term, we decided on a plan that I didn’t initially know was possible. Only the furnace and the internal A/C condenser were replaced in October and the house was warm again. That helped me better afford the cost by moving the A/C replacement cost into 2019 and avoided redundant labor costs of system replacement in two parts. If Jordan tells you to consider replacing your HVAC unit, you can trust that he is trying to save you money in the long run.
In May 2019, when replacing the outdoor A/C unit, Jordan suggested a solution to my long standing concern that, to cool our second floor sleeping quarters to a comfortable level, our first floor thermostat had to be set at least 6 degrees cooler. During the cooling season, we had to either wear sweaters downstairs or sweat in our beds upstairs. We had tried to solve this problem ourselves over the last 18 years by closing the vents to the first floor but we learned recently that this puts a huge strain on the blower motor and may have led to its eventual failure. Jordan’s solution was a two-stage replacement A/C compressor which effectively eliminated the air stratification by running longer, but slower and more energy efficiently. As a bonus for me, while he was replacing the A/C unit, Jordan noticed that I was struggling with an unrelated task of opening my clogged kitchen drain. He showed me a more effective place to access the drain and, when my cheap homeowner 25’ drain snake didn’t clear the clog, he cleared it with his 50’ commercial unit.
