Justin is nothing but a thief. Dec 1st. He came out to start the job and was going to pour the concrete within a week. For him to start I had to give him $4500.00. Weeks and weeks went by with him never showing as promised, wasted days waiting and lost money. Finally I told him I wanted my money back. Was soposto meet 3 times and never showed.. If I could give Justin and his company no stars I would!!! Same experience as the other 2 reviews. 2 years ago I found this company on FB and a neighbor had recommended them. We were having issues with the coloring on our stamped concrete patio. To make a very long story short, he immediately sent out one of his workers to do the job but when the worker arrived he only had enough “stuff” to repair and paint the walkway to the back. It took 2 months of texts, phone calls and promises for Justin to come out to finish the job at 8 at night!!!! It’s dark idiot!! Well as you can imagine the job he did was horrible; his worker did a mich better job on the walkway to the back. It was bubbling and sticky!! This was August so he promised to fix it I. The spring cuz he was too busy. Well spring iof last year came around and I spent all summer texting , calling and getting more empty promises. I know have to have another contractor come out and hopefully it doesn’t cost me a fortune. If I could post a picture I would and I am sure he will never get busy from my post. Plus I see he is still in business lol, going to be filing a complaint with the BBB within the week. Don’t use Justin or his company! Bad business practices, no respect for his customers and their time and very very poor work!

By a user in PlainfieldAugust 1, 2017Concrete patio$3,000
After being referred by a friend, I had Justin Kavanaugh come out to give me an estimate for a concrete patio in our yard back in May. He texted me the price and said that we would sign a contract if we wanted to have him do the work. When I told him we wanted to go ahead with it, he said we'd be looking at the beginning of July to do the work, and he would send me a contract. A couple weeks later I asked him about the contract, and he said he was putting it in the mail. Beginning of July rolls around (still no contract), and I asked him about the schedule. After a few days I got no response, so I talked to the friend that referred me. After apparent prodding from my friend, he finally got back to me and said he was a couple weeks behind because of weather. I said ok, no problem. A couple weeks later I asked for an update on the schedule. Again no response, so after 3 days I texted him and told him that I know we're a small job, but he could at least respond to my texts, otherwise I was going to tell him to forget it and find someone else. His response? "Yeah, you might as well. I just can't seem to get caught up.". What?!? How do you run a business treating customers like that?? No apology, no "Hey, I'm really sorry. Can you wait another couple weeks?". Just "Yeah, you might as well.". I thought it was odd that he didn't require any money down, but it turned out better for me because I don't have to try to get any money back from him.

By Cherie G.July 25, 2016concrete patio stain and seal$4001 day
I had Justin come out and attempt to "fix" my concrete patio, not only did they do a horrible job I have runs and colored splatter everywhere, they stained my brick on my house and siding along the edge of the patio. When I called and told the "owner" Justin about this, he sent the same guys out to "fix" it, my brick is now permanently ruined and my siding had to get repainted. They also removed the sealer all around the edge of the patio near the house. It has been two months and Justin the "owner" promised to come out and fix it, he has not returned calls or texts and I have had to hire yet another company to come out and fix Kavanaugh Concrete's mess up. Unprofessional and very bad at communication. I would not recommend this service to anyone. They did come recommended by Contractors Source in Morris, Illinois, which has not been any help either with fixing my patio issues.

If i could rate it at zero- thats the score he would get. Justin has zero accountability! He was refered by a friend, I found out quick that he is unreliable, has poor communication, unethical practices, full of empty promises- ghosted me many times but I stayed patient because to switch contractors mid job would cost me more money and in the end- zero accoubtability & respect. From the moment I saw his contract with pen scribbled letterhead, I shoildve known right there! Necause he has inadequate business insurance with no workmans comp, I asked him to put down that I am not reliable for injuries- he spelled it energies! I cant make this up! I understand delays as a contractor myself, but to move the lunber deliver 8x because of excusee after excuse amd messing up the carpenters schedule is not acceptable. I had to be patient jowever because I already gave him $10k down. He messed up holding the tape measure on the wrong side of the foundation wall and it was out of square by 7 inches. He denied it at 1st saying he measured it himself. But upon measuring with my carpenters, it was deemed that he was wrong. Furthermore. He messed up on elevations because he didn't read the blue prints correctly, again he denies it and saying it's not in the blueptint and ai had to illustrate that it was. He did remedy the situation after I called him out, its functional but it looks like crap!
On the flatwork for my garage- If I didnt have cameras and called him out for being a a half ass hack job- he would've poured my garage flatwork without using a plate compactor yet he proceeded to put the moisture barrier down & metal mesh without compacting it. I walked around and the gravel was moving around under my feet. This would've screwed me really bad because I'm putting a lift in my garage. I made sure its compacted correctly with the help of friends compacting it with alongside his men. Lastly- our contract says he is to remove all the dirt from my backyard. I have a few loads of dirt left that sat there for months. He was supposed to come 2 weeks ago- no call/ no show! No apologies either. I'm tired of waiting. The driveway people are at my residence to start their work, and I already moved their schedule 2x, before this, I had to move my lumber delivery 8x because of his delays! I told the asphalt contractor to bid me to remove the rest of the dirt. They said $1500. I said No problem since the mound of dirt in the way and is counter productive, so I told Justin to just reimburse me? His reply was " How about you clean his skidder because of the mud, Ive taken 17 truckloads away and have the reciepts, I don't know what the fuck you been smoking,, have a good day, don't message me again." Really?? Hauling all the spoils was part of his contract. Now my calls go straight to voicemail and I think he blocked me. My mistake was paying him all the money upfront before everything was done because he was refered by a HS friend. Beware and Stay away from this loser/ theif!
Worst experience contracting with anyone ever!
I will also file a complaint in BBB and put him on blast in other social media/ his own FB to make sure others are aware and stay clear! I have never done this to any contractor - putting them on blast on social media! Had I seen these other complaints I just read beforehand- I would've never used him if he was the last concrete contractor on earth!!
