Concrete Foundation Experts was hired to do the fountain of a home addition project. They said it would take one day to build the forms. After 3 days they finally finished. I measured the forms to verify the dimensions and the footing form was not straight and not wide enough. Plans called for 16" wide footing and 90% of it was less than 14" wide. The worst area was 11" wide. The city inspector also noted that the rebar did not have the right bend radius, there was a section missing rebar, not enough footing rebar as required by the plans, and some of the footings were not the right height. Jorge the owner said he would come and fix it by the end of the day and we could get it reinspected. After coming a few hours one day they fixed the footing and some of the rebar issues but left part of the form unfinished. The forms were sinking from not having enough support. All they had was some sticks every couple of feet to support the boards and rebar. They came and finished on the day of the scheduled concrete pour. He then asked me for another thousand dollars for the extra labor of fixing the forms.
When I pointed out that the footings were not the right dimensions he just said they were fine until he failed the inspection. He's not worth it no matter how low he bids the job. He doesn't read the plans or just doesn't care.
