Do yourself a favor, run away from this guy! He took my money and disappeared, leaving me a demolished apartment for months until I found another General Contractor and straightened up all paper work again. A two months project ended up taking ten months and 60% over-budget, not counting the money I’ve lost on a non-livable apartment for months, and the frustrations and stress. I am filing court judgement against this guy, Waqas (or Vick) Bhutta. But the chance to recover my financial lost is low because he has no assets under his own name.
When my permit application was approved by DOB last year, this company, XPert Constructions Enterprises, approached me and requested to bid. Their bid was among the lowest. He sounded sincere. After talking to a couple of his references, I fell into his trap. Everything were good until I paid. He failed to secure electrician and plumber who carried insurance required by my building although He knew about the requirements from day one. He didn’t pay attention to my notes, made mistakes and blamed me. He barely came to the job site because he had other big projects and “parking was too expensive at mid-town Manhattan”. He said he planned to come to my apartment only four to five times throughout the whole eight weeks project! As a result, he failed to communicate with my building manager closely and promptly. He demanded payment before agreed upon milestones were met, threatening he wouldn’t continue without further payment. He even went vacation in the middle of the job without giving me notice. When I requested he sent assistant to move things forward while he was out, he rejected and my job paused for two weeks pending on his return. After return he figured he’d make more money by quitting the job in the middle so he stopped responding to my messages or phone calls. This is the most irresponsible, dishonest and disgusting contractor I’ve met. Avoid this guy at all cost.
