My experience with this builder was BAD! I would highly recommend anyone who is thinking of buying a home from this builder to do their homework. I have lived at Marbella Subdivision in Houston, Texas 77091 for three years, I am writing this review so that future home buyers are aware of what can happen if you’re not well informed, or do not ask all the questions you want. My first mistake was not having a realtor, I went directly with the builder and got screwed big time. He did not pay for the 1% closing cost like I was told, they claimed that my house was appraised under market and they didn’t think it was fair that they were going to lose out on that. (By the way it took seven months for me to move in the house). They said they would include the blinds for the house and months later they claimed that if it was not put in the contract they couldn't do anything about ( My mistake was believing everything they told me). They wanted to charge $700 for all the blinds, $500 for the garage opener. They installed the wrong color cabinets, the wrong granite counter tops, and to top it off who ever installed the cabinets did a horrible job. They lied about a lot of things just to sell the house, they never told me that the community was a private community therefore we can’t get water directly from the city of Houston, the HOA bills us. The HOA fee started at $425.00 they said it would not go up, this is my third year here and our HOA fee is $500 for the past two years. I am sure our HOA fee is going to be higher next year. The parking is a huge problem now, a lot of residents are angry, I was told that parking was not a problem, but now it is. The air condition started malfunctioning after the 1st year and still having issues with it. The backyards have a big drainage problem; the fence material they used was very cheap because now most of our yard pickets have to be replaced. The same builder will be building homes right in front of Marbella Subdivision....Do your research, PLEASE!!!!

The buying experience with Contempo Builder has been terrible. The person who reprensent them, Carmen Sepulveda, is difficult to work with and is not reasonable. They lack communication and when given an finished product, fixes are still pending after move in. The owners need to be aware of the ground work here, the painters they use are HORRIBLE, they can't even get a small painting job right. The owners need to pay attention to this detail and try to organize the selling process. Contempo has a very negative image and I would not recommend them to anyone.
