By Amber B.November 20, 2023Plumber hired them and no explanation of costs was presented$2,700Read more
Choose ANYONE ELSE!! Copper State was requested by a plumber my mom hired to fix her dishwasher. My mom ended up buying a new dishwasher but had this plumber install a PRV at his suggestion (amongst all sorts of other suggestions she did NOT hire him for). This plumber said it would cost $300. The job ended up costing $1269 and he charged her card the next day for $3500 with no invoice or explanation (police report and ROC complaints have been filed). During this work, the plumber claimed there were multiple leaks in her bathroom wall, called Copper State to rip her bathroom apart. Prior to doing that, Cooper State tested for lead and asbestos (which left a chunk out of her wall), scanned her bathroom walls with a thermal imaging gun (which apparently is broken as it detects things that AREN'T there), they ran fans/dehumidifiers for two days to dry out a supposed "active leak"... anyone else think that's weird???My mom was told by the plumber that this all of this would be covered by insurance. That's when she let my husband and I know what was going on. My husband raced over to her place and was trying to make sense of what was going on. When he asked if the plumber had used the access panel to see if he could locate and repair from there instead of ripping apart her bathroom, he said that was "impossible". At this point we realized that no party provided my mom with an invoice or explanation of costs or potential costs to her. We stopped any further work and had our plumber come in for a second opinion. Her bathroom never smelled or showed signs of any leaks, so it seemed strange that after hiring the plumber to help with her dishwasher, that her bathroom was now going to be ripped apart. When we called our plumber, they informed us that they NEVER do work without giving a thorough itemized quote of work to be done and would get a sign off before ever starting any work. Our plumber spent 1.5 hours looking over the area, going into the access panel that apparently the plumber and Copper State couldn't operate (taking some screws out is too difficult for some to look into before doing completely unnecessary work). Our plumber wrote up a very detailed report that no evidence of a past or present leak was found. During our investigation, we've found that the plumber my elderly mother hired is operating without a license and yet Copper State is willing to do work with him?! To blindly accept his claim of leaks without doing ANY basic inspection of their own?! To rack up a bill for my mom of over $2700!! To boot, their itemized bill is ridiculous. They have a charge for emergency services. This wasn't an emergency! It was even a THING! THERE WAS NO LEAK! Running their THERMAL IMAGING GUN which apparently is the biggest scam ever! They charged for plastic sheeting, which wasn't used. I could go on and on. What this boils down to is INSURANCE FRAUD and taking advantage of an elderly woman. Both are extremely sick and not something a reputable, honest and ethical company would do. As stated before, use ANYONE but Copper State to do any work you need.

By Salvadore J.September 7, 2023dry & replace sheetrock and carpet.$5,000
the company set up a few fans to dry out a wall. next day they set up fans to dry carpet and i told them to stop working yet they continued to do more work. requested an estimate of damage, repairs, and cost but never provided.
they charged over $5,000 (includes the work done after they were told to stop), and listed work not performed and exaggerated times to perform work. -

This company is complete trash!! Do not use them under any circumstances. They only care about hustling the customers and insurance ce companies. They'll promise you the world up front, demo your home and stall for months afterwards. I fired them, their lack of communication put my family in jeopardy. They are idiots and fraudsters who need to be shut down. I will be looking into legal counsel after they caused more damage than they resolved. They failed to cap my shower which ended up leaking days later and flooding what's left of the bathroom, causing substantial water damage to the surrounding walls and foundation.

Worst experience ever. I had a little water damage, and they tore apart my kitchen cabinets. Now, they are telling me I have to go thru this very complicated process to get my two cabinets put back. AVOID!!

By Joe M.March 8, 2022I did not hire them the plumber did as they run a racket
WARNING DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES HIRE THIS FRAUDULENT COMPANY. This company is a joke and seriously expects a payment of $2000 for having left their fan on in my bathroom for two hours. They left their equipment at my home for five days and I had to load it as their pick-up person was to weak to load it himself yet at 51 I loaded without his help. They literally did nothing beneficial to this job, submitted a bogus estimate to my insurance agent and placed a mechanics lien on my home all for having done nothing. They fully expect to get paid and if you look at any review board all say the same thing. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY THEY COMMIT FRAUD.

The technician came when our condominium flooded, promised to email quote but did not keep his promise. Couple days later he realized that he forgot his moisture meter, texted me to retrieve it, promised the quote again and vanished again. When I called the office, there was no even file with my name and I was told that you have to sign the contract with the company FIRST in order to get a quote. Only verbal quote before will be presented to you before signing the contract.
Stay away. I wonder how they are still in business. -

Copper State Home Builder is an absolute nightmare, and no one, I mean **No one** should ever let them into their house, period.
First off, they work with shady businesses and arrange Kickback payments with plumbers who refer them to victims, for those interested, Kickbacks are illegal practices in business, maybe someone can look into this.
So I had a water leak and got a plumber from Yelp who came in and within 5 minutes called Copper State.
Inside of 45 minutes there was a CS van in front of my house and a guy calling up my homeowners insurance opening a claim for water damage, which wow, seemed awesome.
The same day 2 guys showed up and started setting up containment plastic and then a 3rd guy came to test for Asbestos, so far so good.
They tell me once the results were back from the test they would send a crew.
Welp, the next morning a crew showed up and setup an asbestos containment area, and what they call a "Negative air containment zone" where they had 3 industrial air-filters / dehumidifiers pulling air out of the entire zone and blowing it out small vents in the plastic, great, except, my Air Conditioner intake was dead-center of this "Zone".
Oh, but first, they removed my water heater from where this zone would be to prevent it from being damaged.
Did they put it in my living room with my sink? No, did they put it on my back porch which was covered? No. At least on my front porch which is covered? Nope.
Instead this guy rolled my $1,000 water heater through my gravel front yard and left it out of view of my security cameras on the far side of my house, where I do not have a window, a gate to the backyard or anything.
I have video of this on YouTube, with a simple search anyone can find and watch it as it will be a public video by the time this BBB review goes up.
ANYWAY....
Within 5 hours I could hear my blower motor rattling and struggling to start up and run, I emailed them and tried to call to ask about it, no one cared, they were fast to do billable work on a weekend, but answer my concerns? Yeah right.
Oh, another note on this "Containment zone", the "Top men" who did the work left 4 gaping holes in the plastic, big enough for a grown man to walk through, so I am sure the Asbestos they claimed was in there could find its way out, I sent a furious email about it, you tell me there is Asbestos and to stay out, and you leave us for 3 days with giant holes in your safety zone?
I fixed the holes myself and ask for reimbursement, of course I will never get it, because this company does not care about people, it is all profit.
So the next day comes and I hear my AC condenser pump running, running... Running, no cold air. AC burned out, house is getting hot, this is Phoenix in the Summer on a 110 degree day.
I let copper state know, they ignored me and then eventual replied denying it was them, they denied putting my water heater in the stupidest possible place until I sent them video of their guys doing it.
Anyway, I called an AC repairman and upon inspection, yep, AC Blower motor burned up. $1,700 to fix it. Where is Copper State's same day responses now? It is nowhere to be found. My "Project manager"'s response was complaining about how much work she has to do other than my file, I found her responses highly aggressive and abusive, refusing the take any accountability for their damage to my appliances.
Oh yes, the word damages!
They absolutely ripped my house apart, during which I heard the worker in my hallway say, and I quote "This is how confident I am that there is no asbestos here!" and when I saw him leave their containment zone, he was no longer wearing his hazmat suit and breathing apparatus.
Do you think Copper State told my insurance company that they actually didn't find asbestos and just faked the test to be able to charge them more? I am not sure if I will be asking my agent this question or not, because honestly, I no longer care.
I had to yell to get them to come take down their entire containment zone, and now my walls are littered with staples and have paint missing everywhere because of where their workers tore the tape off that was holding up their plastic containment stuff, honestly, a 3 year old child would have done a better job.
So now here I sit in my house, which is littered with holes because Copper State told the plumber they would open up walls so he could find the leak, since the plumber I hired is from the Roman Empire and uses the old fashion way of finding leaks, knocking giant holes in walls near pipes.
But you see, Copper State tells you it is ok because they tell you they are going to fix it. But of course, that is only if you give them the green light to finish the job, for which you will owe them money up front, I was going to give them the job, but after ruining my Air Conditioner and denying that 3 INDUSTRIAL AIR HANDLERS sucking air out of an AC intake could burn up a motor, they proved they are a 1000% dishonest company

By Elly M.February 16, 2019To fix a leak under my kitchen sink
This is the worst company to deal with, so don't do it. They do not complete a job and leave you hanging, they do not explain what they are doing and argue with you. They have a very poor business model and their president, Clint Fessler is argumentative and irresponsible! What a poor excuse for an individual and he certainly is not a good businessman. He does not care about the customer whatsoever. They take on jobs that they cannot handle and do not complete the ones they do have. He is greedy and very unprofessional. I hate to even give them a star, as they do not deserve even a one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same story like everyone else. They threatened to put a lien on my property if I dont pay the $3400 within 10 days for running their pointless fans in my house. Cut holes in my wall for BS testing. Tim Hill lied on his report stating that both my toilets had flooded causing damage to my floors and walls. Truth is, I had a water puddle in my shower. Nothing more, nothing less. These guys are out here using people as pawns in order to carry out their insurance fraud schemes. Its crazy to see all these reviews and they're still in business. Hopefully not for long though.
