  Carlos and his team of carpenters, and his trusted sub-contractors, built our large Arts & Crafts home from the ground up in 9 months in 2009, including providing a trusted architect in 2008. The home has both aged and appreciated very well, and we would both recommend and hire him again.

  Kitchen remodel and bathroom update

  Carlos remodeled our kitchen a few years ago and completely made our space more beautiful and more convenient for cooking and entertaining. I loved how he gave us an additional 18 inches in cabinet height by raising the ceiling and his advice for products and colors were spot on! Carlos is so knowledgeable and takes the time to review all options so we were able to tailor our kitchen to our needs and truly capitalize on our space and to this day I still LOVE my kitchen! Additionally a few years after we were having a bathroom tub installed, Carlos had to rescue us as the contractor made a mess of the installment. Thankfully Carlos was able to course correct and make the bathroom lovely and functional.

  Master Bath and Moulding Upgrade

  Coronado Arts and Crafts has completed several renovation projects in our home. Projects included a complete remodel of our master bath and major upgrade to the moulding around the baseboards and ceilings as well around doors and windows on the main level and master bedroom. Carlos and his crew were reliable, dependable and kept the home clean during the renovations. Their quality of work showed great craftsmanship. We were extremely happy with the work Coronado Arts and Craft completed. I would recommend Coronado Arts and Crafts for any renovation project you may require.

  Bathroom remodel, outside siding repair, indoor/outdoor paint, hardwood floor remodel

  We were very impressed with Coronado Arts and Craft home after visiting our friend’s home, which was build by this company, in 2006. Having had experience with other builders in the past whose attention to detail left a lot to be desired, this builder was on another level. Construction of Arts and Craft projects by nature are very demanding to begin with and require an exceptional amount of skill to accomplish well. When we needed major repairs to our house after some weather issues I contacted the owner Carlos to see if he could help us.
  
  My home was constructed back in 1986 with all cedar wood on the outside. In retrospect, is not the best material for NOVA with the weather being what it is. We also wanted to remodel two bathrooms and remove the carpet from the stairs leading to the second floor, the landing, and hallway and put hardwood floors instead to match the rest of the house. To say I was happy with the work done would be an understatement. The company owner, Carlos Coronado, was an absolute professional with the knowledge and expertise of a truly seasoned contractor and craftsman.

  He evaluated all of our needs and brought to our attention potential challenges with some of the upgrades, always with viable solutions, and always with honest and realistic options that were expertly executed, AND ALWAYS within budget.
  
  For example, the outside cedar wood repair, he was worried that the grain of the cedar planks to be replaced (we end up changing over 60 planks due to carpenter bee and weather damage) would be very difficult to match exactly but he never gave up trying to find as close a match as possible. It took him a couple of weeks when he finally found the cedar that would work well, far away in Southern MD. The bathrooms, all with marble floors and showers, turned out just amazing. The hardwood floors, especially the landing, which was circular, was spot on and after resurfacing the old floor with the main floor, the match was spot on. 7 years before entertained the idea of doing this carpet to hardwood floor conversion and two contractors who we asked to look at the project, said it would be very difficult and did not take the job. Not for these guys. They meticulously fabricated the wood to the perfect shape and the installation turned out be better that we hoped for.
  
  I can also go on and on about cleanliness after the workday, always notifying you about work schedule, material purchases and availability, and a couple of very minor delays but you get the idea.

  When you have an experienced craftsman and builder like Carlos Coronado who has built so many wonderful arts and crafts homes in NOVA working closely with his crew, paying attention to every detail, the excellent results should not surprise anyone. In closing let me say I can’t recommend Coronado Arts and Crafts home builders enough.

  Structural Repair of Roof Trusses and Walls, Roofing, Siding and Drywall repair

  We have had the pleasure of using CAACH Twice now. First directly after the purchase of our home Carlos and his crew installed new hardwood floors throughout our home and replaced the aged roof.
  The second time was after a tree fell on our house and caused major damage to the structure of our home. I called Carlos minutes after the accident looking for a recommendation for tree and debris removal. He told me he had someone he uses regularly and he would have them over asap. From that moment on Carlos simply handled everything during a very stressful time. From securing and protecting our severely damaged house, the architect to draw up the structural repair plan, permits, ect. He had it all covered, even our insurance adjuster commented on how efficient they were. Best of all our home was put back better than before the accident.
  I am forever grateful for the way Carlos took care of my family and home as if it was his!

  Addition and kitchen/bath remodel

  Master Bathroom Remodel, outside fascia & gutters

  Basement remodel

  Carlos completed a partially done basement apartment for me in 1998. The original price wasn't sufficient to do the entire job, but we began just before I was going overseas for 5 months. He wasn't able to contact me in days before email and cell phones in order to include me in the process. In the end, I was SO grateful that he managed to complete the job (with his funds), so-much-so that ultimate price was not the point. That he took a chance like that on me spoke volumes.

  My case was a huge example of Carlos being able to make solid decisions for people, even when they're not there in front of him.

  There will always be small items that customers want taken care of at the end of a job. If given a chance, Carlos will get it taken care of.

  Carlos is a solid individual and stands by his commitments. It all starts at the top (with Carlos). Coronado Arts and Craft Homes, LLC is worth taking a chance. I recommend them working together for any potential project.

  Kitchen, basement remodel

  We have used Carlos Coronado for over 20 years. He remodeled a kitchen for us and remodeled our basement. We were very happy with the quality of his work and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him. We recently sold our home and unfortunately had a flood in our basement just before we moved out. Carlos came and took care of everything for us immediately and left the basement like new. 100% satisfied customers!

  Renovation of two cabins, installation of new electrical system, and grading.

  Carlos Coronado and his team worked with us on a project in Madison Virginia. The property was far out and difficult to access. There were incredible hurdles they had to navigate including the rainiest spring on record with lots of flooding. Carlos and his crew navigated these hurdles with determination, skill and resourcefulness. The completed job has been fabulous and we will always rely on him and his team going forward. I would strongly endorse this company for renovation and new build work.

  Carlos is a masterful builder-- He built my beautiful home in Vienna, VA. His word is his bond. He's come back to make repairs at his own cost years after the construction was completed and when no warranty was in effect. He takes enormous pride in the quality of his work and bends over backwards to make sure his customers are completely satisfied. it's been a pleasure to do business with him.

  Whole house remodel

  Never use Winter-Coronado Associates.

  It started well enough. Carlos Coronado and Jeff Winter gave me an estimate for my project and we signed a contract.

  As the project deadline approached, Carlos Coronado came to me asking for $51,000 over and above the contract price because Carlos Coronado said Winter-Coronado Associates had underestimated the cost of the project.

  Here is a partial list of people Carlos Coronado blamed for signing a contract with the wrong price:
  The architect – the one who referred them to me
  Jeff – Carlos Coronado insisted that Jeff Winter had “put the wrong numbers” in the contract. Even though Carlos Coronado and Jeff Winter had sat with me, my husband, and a friend discussing the contract in detail for 2 hours before we signed it.
  Their framer – Carlos Coronado blamed his framer, Larry, for underestimating the one major wall in the plans, increasing the price by $8,500
  Their electrician – Carlos Coronado blamed his electrician, Jose, for charging $7,200 more for the wiring
  I gave Winter-Coronado Associates the extra $51,000 because I wanted my house finished.

  Then, after my family moved back in, the house failed inspection. Carlos Coronado comes back to me after a vacation to Peru demanding $35,000 more or Winter-Coronado Associates won’t finish my house.

  That is where we stand today.

  Do NOT use these guys. They are not honest. They will take your money, take more money, and then leave you with an incomplete house with terrible workmanship.

  Coronado Arts and Crafts Homes recently built an ugly out-of-place behemoth of a house in an established neighborhood. Their workers damaged adjacent properties, trespassed repeatedly and generally acted with complete disregard for any of the surrounding residents. They knowingly misled county inspectors regarding a number of zoning and permit-related violations. I would strongly advise potential customers to avoid this unscrupulous and dishonest company.
