    Basement remodel
    $20,000

The service requested was a basement redo that was supposed to take 3 months and eneded up taking 8 months and ending with it being left undone. Mike (owner) came to my house after being hired by his son in law (Riley coughlin) of coughlin's construction who is initially called. Riley came out gave me a estimate and we were to start work after I demolished the basement and cleaned it out. Mike came shortly after and started framing. In the beginning Mike was there every day but as he drug it out he would show up a few hours and call it a day accomplishing little to no work. He used untreated wood along the floor in a basement and 3 out of the 6 walls were crooked and not built properly. After the new drywall was hung and the windows were framed which was not part of the plan but he thought it would look nice. No it was to try to cover up the windows being framed way off. The dry wall was so poorly muded and sanded that it showed through the paint and was a eye sore. The painting was done so poorly that there were brush marks and bleeding everywhere. Did not do more than one coat on new drywall. The framing around the door to the laundry room was so far off Mike didnt use a header and showed in the poor workmanship when the door wouldn't shut. He said it needed to be shimmed. You can see in the picture its clearly the wall that was built being out of square. There was also my grandfather's wood stove that was removed by Mike and Riley as part as a hand shake deal that he would take that and pay for stone that was to cover the wall where the stove sat. After I purchased a 600$ electric fireplace to be put in that wall Mike cut the hole to big and then took the fireplace apart and left it on the floor only to tell me hes never put one in before. I also had 2 poles that needed boxed in and I showed Mike a picture and he said no problem. The posts came out oversized and off center and the bottoms of the poles are atrocious. Not like the picture we agreed on. So after 8 months Riley came over with Mike and we walked through pointed everything out and Riley said they would take care of it and never showed up again breaking contract and then when i had the owner over from Coughlin's Construction cause he was unaware of my job completely because Riley and Mike took this on the side using the company name and never pulled permits from the city. So Eric came over and walked thru and told me that it would be takin care off. 2 months of back and fourth and still nothing has been done. Very poor workmanship all the way around. I would not recommend Team Painting (Mike) or Coughlin's Construction to anyone. Very unprofessional and poor workmanship.
