We hired Coval Homes to build our home in the Eatonville vicinity. Our on site project management was very poor and our project manager was not onsite often. Luckily we were living onsite and were able to catch much of the issues before it was too late. The house was finished and closed out with out any staff from Coval Homes coming on site, we did not have any Coval Homes project managers or any staff on site since the house was 70% complete. The warranty stage is where we began to have huge issues and continue to have issues. Coval will not stand behind their work and are trying to say that everything was installed correctly. We are experiencing major lifting of the sheeting on the roof due to inadequate space between sheets for movement. Also the sheeting was not properly nailed to trusses. Another major issue is the amount of sheet rock nails that popped over the first winter, there were approximately 70 that had to be repaired. Coval states that there is no issue with the roof, if you want your brand new home to look like this then go ahead and use Coval. I would not recommend Coval Homes for anything. Please pass the word onto anyone who is looking for a builder that Coval Homes will take your money but not guarantee their work.

NOT worth the risk. I know this is a long review, but before you sign a contract with Coval, read this.
I have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars, my entire life savings, for a home I will now never have and I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE. But in the end, I would rather lose it all, than risk building a doghouse with Coval.
They suck you in with their low posted prices, then delay your build so long that the price ends up being higher than some can afford.
We lost our home due to huge price increases even though we were done with ALL homeowner items on day 79 of our 90 day price lock period. We were told by Joey Harman that even if Coval takes time to get footing poured after the site is ready, as long as we were done before the 90 days, the price would be locked for the remainder of the build. We asked about the price lock several times and were told the same thing. We trusted him, which was our first mistake. If you are done within the 90 days, they then impose the below timeline on you, proving the 90 day price lock is not just for the homeowner to use to prepare, it is for Coval to use however they see fit. But none of this is disclosed in advance.
Received the below timeline from the CEO Dave Brimhall 3 days prior to my 90 day price lock expiring after 20 plus attempts to contact someone over an 8 week period of time, and after chastising me for cc'ing him in my attempts to get someone to respond.
Please plan for the following timeline:
After you are 100% ready we will verify the site within 7-10 working days of your notice. (which includes approving all pending change orders).
Only after your site has been verified then we will assign a project manager within 2-3 weeks depending on current workloads.
Foundation pours can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks to get in the cue depending on the current workload.
We ask that you use the timeline above to plan accordingly. Then when I tried to fight the 33K increase and hired an attorney due to their vague and ambiguous contract and newly disclosed timeline, we received this from their attorney.
Coval is entitled to recognize the increased costs it is facing under the Agreement, as it was not feasible to pour the foundation footing within the 90-day period applicable to the price lock terms.
This timeline is not published anywhere, it is just used by them as needed. Their 90 day price lock only means no price increases are recognized in that 90 days, but all increases will be recognized after the 90 days expires. There were 2 increases done on our home, almost 33K, before we even had correct plans to submit for permitting. Even if you were done on day 1 of the 90 days. Just as their attorney notes, it is not feasible to pour the foundation footings within the 90 day period. It DOES NOT mean if you are done in 90 days, your price is locked at the contracted price for the remainder of the build. They wait to drop the bomb on you until you are in so deep and have spent so much money that you will continue as you have no other choice.
Once we signed the contract, if we had questions, they just ignore you and do not respond. I started CC'ing everyone I could, still no answers. Just vague, very odd messages and calls from manager Ed Dent who told me that he wanted me to know that everything he ever told me was true......at the time he told it to me. And several times, he would be so vague I would ask if I was supposed to be reading between the lines, and he would just say yes, but nothing more. Rather than be honest and tell me what was going on, he hid behind his Coval muzzle and let them continue to screw me for months. But he too was screwed in the end and lost his job. Trust nothing they say. They will gaslight you and make you out to be the one who did not hear, understand, or read your contract well enough.
Do some research, look around online at their recent reviews. I am not the only one saying they will never call you back and their promises mean nothing.

When considering a home builder, Coval made the short list for my husband and I. Gary, the sales manager for their Kitsap branch, was responsive and knowledgeable about all aspects of the design and build, and prompt to answer our questions day or night. We also greatly appreciated that Gary took the time to listen, and made recommendations based on what would work best for us, even if it didn’t mean going with the most expensive option. Ultimately, we made the decision to go with a different homebuilder given our criteria required a more custom build, but I would not hesitate to recommend Coval when you’re ready to build your new home.

We built our home with Coval homes and moved in in Sept of 2021. Getting to the move in date was difficult and Coval never finished their punch list items completely. This week we had the issue of our kitchen sink falling away from the countertop and no one wants to return my calls - not getting return correspondence was expected and not surprising. Everyone who wants to build with this company needs to be aware that their time lines were always off, delayed and costly. Additionally their project management was very poor and unresponsive. This company is seemingly misleading people on the idea they care about the customers experience and they take ownership and pride on the homes they build, but in reality it's far from the ideal they sell. We are nervous and now questioning all of the craftsmanship in our home.
