If we could give Craig Lander and Son a -0- star rating, we would. We contracted with Craig Lander & Son to complete a renovation of a small commercial space. Craig and his partner came out to the building on 3 occasions to walk through the plans and discuss the job with the architect. For this job, timing and quality were our priorities. We obtained 2 references and chose CL&S. Craig began the demo with a full crew and 50% down payment with a promise that it would be a 6-8 week job. On the last day of the demo, CL&S informed us that they forgot to file the building permit which would cause a 1-3 week delay. Sadly the issues began. Well, 2-3 weeks later they started back up, but with only 1-2 workers and they were gone by 12:30pm. We discussed the lack of efforts and delays with Craig and he had only excuses and no answers. He continued this sporadic work with very little progress was being made. We were in the 3rd month when one of his workers was inappropriate with my wife…. He was fired. Then, not a week or so after that, the dumpsters were removed and we were informed that Craig was walking off the job. We were told by his partner that he was acting like a small child and had difficulties dealing with unhappy people when he screws up "Its not your guys fault!". With the threat of a lawsuit looming, his partner made a good effort to complete the job with a very weak crew and little time to dedicate. Unfortunately, there were many fixes/re-do’s and in some cases very poor work that we paid other contractors to correct.

At the time of the building inspection, we failed with a voluminous list. We had to pay the architect to come back and inspect which was a disaster. They did not even follow the plans or know the building code. Finally, 7 months after the project started, we were done. We hired a lawyer and had a big reconciliation to go through. This was very disappointing as we wanted a great experience and pay them their full bill. Not pay an extra 20% for other contractors.

The bottom line with Craig Landers & Son is that they over promised, under delivered and tried to walk off the job with our $. Thanks to his former partner, we made it through, however, he left CL&S. We cannot say more clearly that we could not recommend that anyone meet with CL&S let alone hire them. From our perspective, they lacked expertise, professionalism and ethics. If you ask me - do not use!
