    Custom Home
    $450,000

We had a terrible experience with this builder Cramer Custom Homes. Little choices over the detail of your "Custom" house. Choices made before you have a chance to decide then told it will cost extra to get what you originally wanted. Corners cut throughout the house. Measurements incorrect like the hood fan in the kitchen is not centered in the middle of the wall. Little communication only by email and doesn't answer his phone. This is a spec home builder not a custom home builder. Do your homework before selecting a builder... I wish we did!

It is unfortunate that this client has decided to write a misleading review about our company. He has chosen to leave out a lot of critical information which would undoubtedly change the way the review is perceived. I feel it is only fair that I reveal a little more of the story behind this very unique and unfortunate situation. In our 15 years of business, this is the first time we have had a negative on-line review. After entering a contract to build a custom home with our company, the client had some very unfortunate circumstances arise throughout the process. I will explain and defend our position, without mentioning any names and I will be as vague as possible to protect the family. This client suffered through a lot of personal, financial and employment turmoil throughout this construction project, it was a very unfortunate situation. The project was put on hold multiple times due to the client's financial and employment circumstances. As a company, we were very sympathetic and understanding. We tried very hard to help the clients through their difficulties, stretching this project out 19 months (this home should have only taken 4-5 months to complete). We offered many alternatives and made many exceptions for them to try and ease the stress on their family and move forward with finishing their home for them. It was an unfortunate situation, even more unfortunate that they chose to take their frustrations out on our company and our contractors. We have no control over our client’s personal lives, employment or finances. The client lost his job mid-way through the project. The loss of employment would affect their mortgage approval and ability to pay for the home upon completion. In our many years of business, this situation has never occurred before. We are a family business working to help our clients and their families. It is regretful that they are not appreciative of all the concessions we made in an effort help them. We have built over 200 homes and we have many happy clients. In fact, these clients were referred to us by happy clients we built for the year prior. As for the hood vent the client refers to... They seem to have forgotten they purchased all of their appliances (including the hood vent) on their own at a big box store "black friday" sale (against our recommendation). Their appliance provider installed the hood vent for them (not us). We do not cut corners, we are a high quality custom builder. We offer many custom choices. In this unique case we offered the client less expensive alternatives due to their loss of employment and change in financial status. The client thought that since they were having financial difficulties, they expected our company to give them upgrades and reduce our contact price for their benefit. It was a very unreasonable demand. Of course we cannot loose money on our projects, but we tried to help them by offering less expensive alternatives. Their home was a custom home plan they chose. The majority of our homes we build are custom. We build very few spec homes. I do not understand the clients comments about their home being a spec home. They chose this plan and we built it as per specifications on their rural lot. It was a custom home plan. Jeff Cramer
