My wife and I started looking to downsize and move closer to the cities a few years ago. We did the usual Parade of Homes tours in the metro area to get ideas and see what was available. We wanted to get into a new home without snow and yard maintenance, but didn’t want a traditional townhouse. The trend we found was called a villa where you had a smaller home and yard but paid a monthly association fee to take care of the snow and grass. We looked into every builder in the area who built a villa style house and in the end choose Creative Homes because of their designs and the ability to customize our new house. All the other builders had “packages” for their homes to choose from but you could not vary from their predefined options. As far as the floor plan, Creative let us make minor adjustments to walls and windows where the others said no changes period. We were sold.
A year ago we put our plan in place to sell our existing home and build a villa with Creative Homes in The Cottages at lake Pointe in Woodbury. We worked with their sales consultant Kim Wallisch who helped us navigate through the design and build process and we began our journey. This is the 4th new house I have built in my lifetime and by far the best experience. Creative has all the right people and processes in place to get through the process of building. Our old house was on the market and we were ready to move forward, so we thought. The pandemic hit and shut down the existing housing market. No open houses, no showings, our existing house sale was dead in the water. We were afraid that we would lose the house we started with Creative. Kim worked with us extending purchase agreements and when the market came back we sold our house and broke ground on our villa. We moved into our new house November 2020 and we could not be happier with the house, Kim and all the Creative Homes people who made this journey possible. -

Everyone we have dealt with through Creative Homes have been very dedicated to the job they have. Starting with the sales team right down to all the craft people. They all made our job of buying a new home very pleasant. Everyone listened to are needs. The craftsmanship is superior. We are so pleased with our new home.

Look elsewhere for a builder. They don't know the meaning of customer satisfaction. Customers should come first in any successful business, but they dont understand this basic concept. Their sales staff is inexperienced. They make up rules on the fly. The are not Creative in any sense of the word. They know one, and only one, way to do just about anything. They are not flexible in any way. They refuse to accept even relatively minor change requests even 6 weeks before breaking ground. Their design options (like flooring, siding, roofing, cabinets) are patheticly limited. Their labor charges and charges for substitutions are inflated and border on gouging (example: $340 to trim a door openin, not bad...but $980 to trim an opening greater than 5', criminal). I am filled with remorse and they haven't even broke ground yet. I don't expect it to get any better, but if by some miracle it does, then I will update this review.
