When we were building a home with Custer Homes, Inc., Stan Custer directed us to his in-house "designers" for their assistance in creating a "seamless" home-building experience. As a result, Custer Design Group's Head Designer, Jenny Thomas, designed all of the cabinetry in our house and supervised the installation of the granite countertops, floors, showers, lighting fixtures, etc. Although, she followed exactly my written measurements for my microwave cabinet's height and length, she unilaterally cut 5" from my written depth measurement without my knowledge or consent. Her subsequent "solution" to her mistake involved breaking the air-circulation tabs from the back of my microwave oven and cutting a hole in the back of the cabinet. She then sent me a bill for "correcting" her mistake. She also changed the bookcase depth from the standard 12" shown on the blueprint to 8.5" for "design" purposes. Without apology for either mistake, she offered to "help me arrange my books so it wouldn't be as noticeable that they extended beyond the edges of the shelves." Stan Custer declined to remove the bookcases and reimburse the $9,000+ we paid him because, "the bookcases have already been paid for." He did offer to remove the bookcases and add 3.5" to the depth, but expected me to pay for the change. We have design/ installation problems with shower pans that are improperly sloped, granite that is improperly cut, a cabinet door that hits a countertop edge, wall lamps that extend over our bed and have cut the top of my husband's head, a built-in entertainment wall and fireplace that was so poorly measured and designed that the LPs don't slide inside the drawers (they are crammed against the sides) despite an overall design including 5"+ of dead space that could have been used to make the LP drawers wider. In my opinion, Custer Design Group provided unbelievably sloppy design, installation and supervisory workmanship throughout our 3100 SF home that was built by Custer Homes, Inc. for $1,000,000+
