    Install Heat Pump / AC
    $7,000

CVA is one of the worst contractors I have ever dealt with for repairs around my house. I hired them to install a new Carrier heat pump / AC on June 4, 2021. After the install I had nothing but issues with the system. The system would not cool below 72 degrees and the humidity in the house was 75. This is not what I expect from a brand new air conditioner. It would never come close to what the thermostat was set at which was 68-70. The compressor would kick on for about 20 minutes then shut off and blow 75-80 degree air out my vents. I contacted the company too explain what was going on and to also tell them that I found 2 rags left in the coil. The owner of the company Charles Van Auken (Chuckie) immediately dismissed the rags as being left by the factory and further told me that an AC system is not a refrigerator. He told me that I shouldn't be setting my thermostat below 72 degrees and that an AC is not meant to cool a house more than 15-20 degrees below the outside temperature. He sent a tech back out to my house who immediately started blaming me for the issues with the system. Telling me the same things listed above as well as having to many windows in the house, having floor vents instead of overhead, etc. He also blamed me for hooking a remote temp sensor that is a part of the EcoBee thermostat they installed. The tech was able to confirm that the condenser was indeed kicking on and off but after talking to his boss (Chuckie) told me that I was overworking the system by setting the thermostat below 72. This tech even locked my thermostat at 70 while he was there. I continued to have the same problems after he left. I made several attempts to contact the company and they wouldn't return my calls. I was forced to contact Carrier who advised that I get a second opinion at my expense. Carrier told me that there are zero reasons why I can't set my thermostat as low as 66 and cool the house properly. They contacted Chuckie who told them that I was the one responsible for the issues. The second company came out and was able to figure out the issue within 15 minutes of arrival. The problem was that CVA grossly overcharged the system with R410A. This was causing the issues and was easily resolvable had they actually had the knowledge and took the time to troubleshoot the system properly, instead of blaming me for the issues. I gave CVA multiple chances to correct the issue. I also reached out to them via email in an effort to recoup my expenses to fix the system and they would not respond. Buyer beware. There are several other HVAC companies in the area that are honest and reputable in the area. Unfortunately CVA is not one of them. Do not hire this company unless you want to be blamed for their mistakes.
