I have worked for Calvin Snow and miss the way he allowed me to come up with unique custom showers and kitchen back splashes, the floors well everyone wants nice floors so that also! This man would pay out of pocket to insure customer satisfaction and spend not only on material but on labor top dollar every time.. I can say he and his brother Tim Avery are number one top notch builders in South Carolina and world wide in my opinion, since I left the state I have never gone all out for a client again because builders just don't do that! I have worked for Trump palace, St Regis hotels and helped build multi billion dollar islands such as Aqua at Allison Island in Miami so when I say CVS is the best I mean it! God has blessed me with the time I had with the whole Snow family, they are like brothers to me... I miss them.

19 Months and still not done!!
Regretfully we entered into a contract with Calvin V. Snow /CVS Builders to build our home in Chesnee, SC. On 9/9/21
As the build progressed very slowly, Calvin became more and more difficult to work with and unfortunately extremely unprofessional. We were stuck!
Our request:
We needed a Fully Handicap Accessible 1st floor home that would not have stairs to enter the first level. The main bathroom shower could not have a curb or threshold to enter the shower. The basement would be partially finished walkout/rollout.
Per Calvin:
The home would take “6-12 months to be completed but definitely closer to 12 months for a Custom Basement House” and “he would have his Balls to the walls” to get it done. We were his priority, as he understood our situation.
Excited to start the process, we paid the deposit and responded immediately with any and all requests to prevent delays. At first, Calvin seemed professional and acknowledged our needs including everything to be Handicap Accessible.
On Dec 27th, 2021 - After many excuses the foundation was started.
Calvin moved the entire home site 5 feet closer to the street than he/we originally agreed. This made the driveway steeper, shorter (less concrete = money to his pocket), The foundation wasn’t deep enough so now several stairs are required for ALL 1st floor entrances.(No longer Fully Handicap Accessible!!) Calvin did not work as our advocate. He didn't show up when it mattered for inspections to pass or take ownership when he was directly to blame about foundation depth, problems or errors as they occurred. When confronted he regularly threw even his own employees (3 in total) under the bus including his own son.
Calvin’s Contract:
The contract was always quoted as an intimidation tactic and only Used, Quoted or Worked in his favor. Otherwise it was a "type-O."
He said he “always follows the contract”. We tried to head off a major issue with him for the bathroom shower floor (there was a curb with a center drain and also the biggest concern was the floor pitch for the water flow. He said “Read your contract!” I became angry so he stated with a condescending tone “Honey”, “I know you THINK you said it to me, but you never said it to me before.” Realizing Calvin’s arrogance was unable to allow anyone not in the trade to correct him. I just said as long as you follow the contract.” He would avoid issues by ignoring or distraction and if it didn't work he became angry to the point of being belligerent or storming off. He canceled regularly or just didn’t show up avoiding scheduled meetings with us. He would call and try to bully us into payments for services that have not been rendered yet ( per his contract, work was to be paid after completion.) He would regularly threaten to quit or call his lawyer.
Our Complaint:
- He has work that needs to be completed
- He owes us money
- We have Stairs everywhere!!
- Master shower floor fills like a pool and overflow into closets within 2 min.
- Tile is chipped
- Fireplace brick was not done.
- Basement Ceiling has leak that molded
- Several doors don’t work.
- Soo much more.
He says he won’t come back so all we can do is warn future potential home customers.
Calvin’s contract means nothing
Calvin’s commitment means nothing
Calvin’s personal word means nothing.
