Document Everything -We hired CW Contractors (Christopher Walsdorf) in December 2023 to sand and refinish our hardwood floors. We raised concerns on the first day and asked the contractor to view the work. By the second day, there were visible defects including swirl marks, machine marks, uneven sanding, and portions of the agreed scope (upstairs hallway and stairs) were not completed.
After termination, the contractor acknowledged issues in writing, including a text stating “sorry it did not work out” and later email correspondence noting that swirl marks and imperfections might be present. We had 3 independent flooring professionals subsequently evaluated the floors and advised that the work was not consistent with industry standards and that the floors would need to be re-sanded and remediated before refinishing.
We incurred significant additional cost to correct the work. After this, the contractor pursued payment through legal action based on a post-termination invoice, which added additional time and burden to an already unresolved situation.
I’m sharing this experience to help other homeowners make an informed decision. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this contractor. Homeowners considering this company may wish to carefully review references, confirm prior work aligns with what is shown online, and document everything from day 1 with pictures, videos, texts, emails and understand in advance how to navigate the legal process if a dispute arises.
