    Is there an acceptable excuse?

The work started in early October and done so poorly that the workers were fired. Meanwhile, two iron porch railings were left unsecured and stolen, and the next contractor wont begin his work until the crazy-bad masonry work is corrected, which we are still waiting for in January. While acknowledging the work was done so sloppily that the workers had to be fired, the rubble was left in our driveway for three months. The contractor made no effort to contact us to advise us of his plan for fixing the work for which he was paid, and the work has not been corrected yet as of late January. Inclement weather is the reason given for the work not being corrected in December or January, but when the weather was quite pleasant in October and November the work wasn't done either.
