An absolute nightmare. WE built a half million dollar home, only to have one problem after another. everything from the septic system not tied into the house when we moved in, to no hanging rods in the closets. We are a year later and still waiting to get things finished. Broken cabinets, outdoor kitchen, chimney, and several other items including faulty plumbing fixtures. I would not let Roger Ball build a Dog house for me after the experience I have had with him. Not to mention he under bid the job $40,000. He has no business being in business

    Build house

D & R built a house for my wife and I. The home was extremely well built. Not one problem for the last four years. We requested a change in the ceiling paint and before we closed the job was done. My Brother, who has been a carpenter all his life, checked it out very close and gave a 100% thumbs up. This is a builder with rarely found honesty and integrity. I highly recommend this builder.

    Custom build a home
    $187,000

We closed on our home 9 months ago. We STILL don't have our window screens. We have a list of things that need repaired and/or completed. All of the hype he spills of "custom home" is complete bs! We got to pick colors. The cabinets were installed and we never met the cabinet guy. 20yrs ago I got "custom cabinets". Those truly were custom and I chose where I wanted pull-outs, drawers, or cabinet shelves. In THIS house, we have useless areas because the cabinet set up doesn't allow for all areas to be reached. Roger said he'd tried all sorts of set ups and none are really that good for this kitchen. Really, it wasn't his choice and I can think of multiple ways that this kitchen could be more useful. I'd also like for the baseboards to be completed in our Masterbath. The grout keeps cracking in our shower and the glass tiles aren't even installed properly. They look like a 7yr old installed them. I'm upset that the brick layers bricked our front porch, when it was supposed to be rock. We picked out our brick specifically to go with a rock porch. Roger didn't seem too concerned. Our sidewalk and driveway were not poured or leveled correctly. Our off white brick was left with red mud on it and so was our flooring inside the house. We even still had sawdust on cabinets when we moved in. We could see outside around the French doors and I couldn't pull them open. Which also led to ants and spiders infesting the house and we had to have an exterminator come out. He said that other new homeowners in our neighborhood had called him as well. Our toilet room door would Not close and it shows that the lower side was sawn on. It looks terrible. It turns out, the wall right there, which is also part of the shower is 3/4 of an inch off at the bottom from the top. This also means we can't have a shower door, unless we spend $1,000+ on a custom door. Like others, we have no power in our island. We had quite a bit of contractors trash to clean up out of the yard that we just got tired of waiting for it to be cleaned up after move in. The list of issues goes on. There are things that could still be taken care of, but Roger and Ryan won't respond to us anymore.

    New home construction
    $175,000

    My new home construction
Things I’ve found that my contractor should have caught and I’ve found wrong or completely missed!
-Septic drain in wrong place (request exit on east and he had placed on north)
-Fireplace in wrong place (asked to be in corner of living room and he had them place in center)
-Shower in wrong place (I caught prior to concrete and had them fix)
-Shower not framed for walk in (I caught and had them fix)
    -No electricity plumbed for island
(I caught and had it put in just minutes prior to concrete being poured it was also 12-18” off)** see photos below
-Master toilet missed 6” had to bust concrete (looks horrible with stained concrete floors)
-House planned out facing wrong direction (dirt work done for house facing west and should have been facing south. Concrete crew had to fix the day of pouring added 1500 to pad cost. I caught this not Roger)
-Propane placement picked without my consent (I had them
Change placement because roger told them on west of house which was next to garage door and I’d have to see tank every time I pulled in)
-Fireplace picked with out consulting with me (they showed up to install I had no say... turns out they put in a upgrade which cost more money because Roger didn’t instruct them to my budget which in turn cost more money)
-Vents shape changed without a conversation with me on front (ordered round when plans called for square)
-Gable vents removed because Roger thought we didn’t need them (I had to demand a ridge vent to vent attic because they framed all gable vents in without even discussing with me)
-Need Nails from tension cable cut off and holes filled in with mortar (not done when tension was pulled I’m sure will be a added cost to have someone else do)
-Back door needed to be open out not swing in due to small breakfast area (no conversations on how we’d like the doors to open or close) he did order a new door but during install they busted the jam and stripped the screw holes therefore there is a big gap around the door now we need a 3rd door)** see photos below (roger is not getting a third door he wants to order a ladder weather strip to fill in space)
-Master door needs to open out (will hit night stand when opening Roger didn’t offer to change)
-Lost Sod allowance because he did not allow enough for the cabinets (allowed 5500 and cost was 7900)
-I Was told I added cabinets when some were removed and not placed at all in the house **see photo below of cabinets not placed that were on plan
The master cabinet we took only the Linen portion out but kept the sit down vanity ***photo attached
-All the door jams we’re framed with too large of an opening which is requiring the Sheetrock crew to come and do repairs (once trim was placed around the door it would not even cover opening) *photo attached
-Counter top lady gave me only two options for my countertops which were horrible and when I requested other options she said only two to be in budget (I had to find another countertops person) **photo attached of our text showing two options she gave me. She told Roger I picked those two
Don’t use Carpet One out of Durant, OK
When I asked to have the manager call me her response “Sure 903-436-0336. I am the owner, manager, dishwasher, slab polisher you name it.”
    Very unprofessional!!
-My husband and I had to tape off all the floors because the painter said we would not be in budget if they had to do it (my husband had to miss work and we had to buy the paper, tape and blades out of our own money). I feel Roger should have communicated with painter better telling him we would do concrete floors so the bid would have been accurate)
My husband and I said we would do the cleanup from the beginning. Roger told me that us having to miss work to tape off the floors for the painter was part of house cleanup.
-We have a lot of excess material that he’s not returned for credits (100’s of dollars in hardy board)
-Other materials delivered in the mud and rain which caused damage to materials.
    -Garage storage Door delivered damaged
Ryan his son in law (superintendent said can be patched). This is a new home and I don’t want things patched! ** photo attached
-Interior paint was 1000$ over budget and I didn’t add any sq footage to my house so I’m not sure how I’m over budget. When I ask he said because I have two colors of paint on the exterior.
    (Trim White, House grey)
**remember we also covered and taped off all the floors ourselves
-From the beginning I was told that any money saved in an area I could use elsewhere (like gutters or blinds)
Roger asked me for 12,000 for framing labor and I questioned the amount because I knew the framers were getting 10,500.
Roger lied to my face and said it was 11,879 for framing labor.
I was so upset about this that I stewed on it for a full week and finally confronted him and told him I knew it was 10,500 because I knew one of the framers.
Not enough room to post the rest of my problems!
