Marc of Dacota Group LLC was hired to do renovations in our home. First was taking down a wall which went well until we were made aware that one of the columns was not level.
That was fixable but what happened next is a disaster. I knew he was a licensed contractor and hired him to also do our new master bath shower, add a commode,reorient a vanity and install a new shower floor and ceramic tile floor in the master bath and 1/2 bath. However he did not disclose he wasn't a licensed plumber. That is where the rest of it begins. After moving the vanity and installing the new toilet and prepping the plumbing for the new shower -pipes exploded and over 3500 gallons of water destroyed our bathroom, bedroom carpet, sub flooring, air ducts to our heat pump. Our water heater overheated and all the,ceramic tile and backer board were destroyed. since it happened in the middle of,the night while we were asleep in our guest room my husband discovered it upon awaking at 5AM to hear water and had to run outside in the dark to,shut off the water for the whole house. We called Marc immediately and he said he would make it,right. Little did We know he arrived two hours later by himself without disaster relief. We gave him every opportunity to call his insurance to get a claim started only to,find out on Monday when we requested his insurance information that he never opened the claim from when this occurred on,Friday!
He is NOT a licensed plumber and he destroyed our home. He has liability only coverage which means we will not get any replacement costs covered. He ruined our home. We called our own disaster experts Monday morning after he again took the weekend off and only arrived on Monday with his son to help. All the wet insulation in our crawl space was still on the air ducts. My husband had to pump out the water from the crawl space ourselves. He violated our trust, our home and incompetent and deceitful doesn't begin to describe what he is. This will be a long drawn out process as the adjuster indicated settlement won't come for 3-4 weeks and we have to live in chaos. Two commodes, two vanities are removed AND we still don't have a master shower nor can we sleep in our bedroom!!
