If I could give zero stars I would. I had my home built by Daum in 2017 and just now discovered that he never hooked up the dryer vent to the outside so the dryer has been venting into the wall for 4 years.... only discovered when moving a piano. Major mold removal in process. No return calls from Daum. Hiring attorney today.

I have built with this company and closed with them in January 2021. The home was completed on time. I have no major issues, the couple of minor problems were promptly fixed under warranty. I am giving 4 stars because I have yet to see how the yard will be finished.

I would give zero stars if possible. Not only are they completely rude to deal with but they do not honor the one year warranty. My house is one of 3 houses built on the same street by them and all 3 of our houses are dealing with water underneath our house in our crawl space. And they have strung us along for months saying they would do something to fix the issue and never actually did anything to fix it, so we were left to try and resolve the issue ourselves before our house sinks or something like that. They don’t care at all about you and how they are clearing doing you wrong and are just money hungry. I don’t see how they are even in business still with all these terrible reviews and lawsuits.

Sad to say, but they are difficult to work with. Don't complete the work professionally (trim has gaps, especially around doorways; toilet seat in one bath was scraped; front door was bound so badly when hung, you could barely remove the pins; drywall mud left on door hinges; concrete finishing had patchy broom marks in the finish; sheet rock work in garage area looked like it was done as an elementary school craft project; pieces of flooring had the top layer separated during install; install of utilities was not thought out - HVAC, electrical panel; only two outlets in the whole garage; the lawn they provide is extremely loose fill that hasn't been compacted at all, covered by a sparse hydroseed that after a month, we still can't walk on without sinking AT LEAST 3 inches) You get the point... They don't respond to issues (i.e. "fix-it" list provided after walk through). Run the job site like a gestapo, mandating the customer doesn't visit the site, as well as being very short & borderline rude when inquiring about the progress or issues observed during the build. Then after the build, none of the above items have been addressed.

I'm getting My house built by daum as we speak. I don't have anything good or bad to say at moment. But if I have multiple issues that are not addressed , you better bet im going right to an attorney and will make daum pay for poor craftmanship, and quality of work. Only time will tell. I hope everything turns out fine and I can leave a 5 start review. Will update in 6 months !!

Daum Construction exceeded our expectations 110%! We were expecting huge headaches along the way while having a house and somewhat unique shop built but the Daum Construction team handled everything and orchestrated the build beautifully. I highly recommend Daum Construction! Mary Keeling

If I could give a 0 star I would. This man is a horrible person to deal with. I had concrete issues that they said they would take care of, then my 1 year was coming up close and all the sudden he said he never said he would fix it. There was a plethora of warranty issues that I faught with the entire 1st year from plumbing to concrete to roofing to siding to sliding glass door and window issues. The only issue that was finally taken care of was the walkway and driveway only to crack and chip.withun a month. Been here 2 years now and all my window frames are cracking away from the walls. The floors are bubbly and the plumbing...wow, if I would have only known...I was given the list of subcontractors and they are ridiculous as well to get ahold of. I had sprinkler issues that were completely ignored. I asked for a quote for my backyard to be done several times and now I nothing but rock and am fenced in with no way of getting any sort of machine in to bring in dirt or remove rock. I was told 4 months after construction when all of my bathroom drains were not draining that I needed to hire a handy man to show.me how to.tale care of things. I'm sorry...4 months after new construction I shouldn't need a handy man to fix a drain. Needless to say DO NOT GO WITH DAUM CONSTRUCTION!!!!!! YOU GET WAY LESS THAN WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!!

I bought a new build 3 bedroom 2 bath home from Daum Construction in December 2017. I love my home. It's built very well and it's beautiful. Any issues I've had Daum has fixed. Mostly little things, and one fairly significant one (my property appeared to have not been graded so they sent someone to grade it).

I purchased a house this past June of 2019 that was built by Daum sometime in late 2016. We are the second owners as the first owners probably seen how horrible the craftsmanship was. Pretty much every problem every other 1 star review stated is what I am seeing. His builders are incompetent of hanging a basic bedroom door. I have cracks in our walkway due to unsettling of the dirt. Screws are popping out of the sheet rock. The ceiling texture job is absolutely hideous as my 2 year old son could do better. This is just a small fraction of what I have found. I didn’t realize all the things I would have to fix in a house that is barely 3 years old. I am willing to bet that he had people write 5 star reviews to counter the rating. Just look for yourself on the dates and years submitted and they seem to be days apart. Sounds like a good idea but the clown doesn’t realize that the dates of the review submitted show. It’s a good thing I have plans to fix not only his poor work but add on to our home to bring some actual value to it. Be aware of purchasing any home with his name attached to it. You will do yourself a great service.

We had a home built by Daum in July of 2017. I agree with the other 1 star review. The 5 star reviews posted cannot possibly be legitimate. We have had the same poor workmanship issues with our cement, sub-grading work done improperly, septic and plumbing issues, among other things. When we reached out to Daum regarding any issues during our "warranty" period, he either denied responsibility or referred us to the sub-contractors, who were either incredibly difficult to get them to address the issue, or they ignored us completely, as was the case with Denali Concrete. I can't believe that Daum is still building homes with zero accountability regarding the supposed 1 year warranty.

Great experience building my home in Crown Pointe and have had nothing but great service since on any warranty items. The build was on time, all of my selections were correct and I walked into a new home with equity (which in this market can be hard to do). I've found that when you are nice and respectful with requests, people in general respond in the same way. Hard to believe the negative reviews when my experience has been perfect.

I agree with everyone who gave a one star rating here. Practically every single issue everyone has mentioned is exactly what happened with my own home built a year ago. From bad construction, cement cracks, gutter issues, water issues in the garage, plumbing issues... you name it, I’ve had it. It took forever to get anybody to come out and every single contractor was extremely rude. I’m seriously considering just selling my home and starting all over. I contacted an attorney who was more than familiar with Daum construction as he has had to handle multiple issues from other buyers. Daum has kept him in business unfortunately...Nevertheless, I will be hiring him to attempt to resolve the multiple unending issues I have suffered from a home that is practically brand new! I’m not convinced that most of these five star ratings on this review is from actual buyers. I think a lot of them have been submitted from Daum’s own doing in order to offset the multiple bad reviews of years past.

My experience with this company continues to be awful. The owner and his representative have been amazingly rude and difficult to deal with from the beginning. The company has broken several laws in regard to my own property and they continue to do so. When I have attempted to communicate with them, they told me to"call the police" Horrible company and horrible representative. They are amazingly unprofessional and downright awful. Please check out this company before doing any business with them.

We bought one of the homes at Crown Pointe Post Falls ID. We purchased the Teton style home, and we were relocating to Idaho from the east coast. We chose our homestyle choices from a facetime session! We asked for a change in floorplan and Daum happily accommodated us. When we arrived in Idaho our home was ready on time with all the amenities we were promised. It was better than perfect experience!

Daum Construction and its team did a phenomenal job with our new home. We are delighted with our home and know that we made the best choice in builders. The entire Daum team kept us in the loop throughout the whole process and made it super easy to follow and understand. The stayed within our budget and finished construction EARLY!

Daum made our first home buying process an effortless and stress-free experience. We were impressed with their attention to detail and the hand holding they gave us as first-time homebuyers. We had some warranty work that needed to get done, but the subcontractor was on time and did the job with expertise. We are thrilled with our Daum home.

The standard features that Daum Construction provides with their homes are great, and they list what potential homebuyers will get when purchasing their home. My wife and I wanted to customize our home to emulate ideas we've seen on TV and in magazines; Daum did a fantastic job at making our plans a reality and were able to accommodate our ideas quickly and easily.

Daum Contruction was a pleasure to deal with. They gave us timely updates and we had a timeline of how the build of our new home would happen. The choices of cabinets and accessories were outstanding and what might be an upgrade with other builders is standard with Daum. The workers were organized, on time, and on budget. Well done!

For the most part, everything went smoothly with the build of our new home. We found some minor issues, but that is part of buying a new home. What was impressive is the responsiveness on these issues which was simply amazing. Constant follow up was great as well. I always had someone to go to, and we always felt heard.

Not only is our home beautiful but it was expertly built AND they stayed in our budget! Did I mention they also were done on time? We love our Daum home. It is what we really wanted in a home.

Love our Daum Home. The whole team was great to work with, but we worked very closely with Chad. He helped to fulfill the special requests we had, and he called us from the site when he was not 100% sure of our preferences. Since we have moved into our home, we had a few small issues that Daum address quickly and efficiently.

I love the upgrades that came with all the homes, but the St Joe model was our favorite. Our Daum Construction associate was great, she followed through every step of the way and even went out of her way for us more than once. Very happy with our experience with Daum.

We purchased the Clearwater model at Crowne Pointe. We were so nicely surprised by the cost and the attention to detail given by the builders Daum Construction. Kaitlyn was a great guide and helped us with our selections for our home. She took care to help us make choices that fit the house, fit our budget and reflected our taste which is a massive undertaking. She was patient and very knowledgeable.

I had to leave a review for Daum Contruction because we are that happy with our new home. We were especially impressed with their customer service and the kindness shown to us from everyone involved with building our house even though it is not a higher end model we were treated like royalty. Our home is lovely and we are so thrilled.

I would not recommend this builder to anyone. THe building process was a joke, I was pushed to the side and non of my concerns were addressed until it was too late. Mistakes were being made and when I tried to contact someone about them I was told to wait until it was done, and then it was too late and they did a half assed job fixing them at that point. After moving in, it has been nothing but problems. Snow blowing in front and back doors, hot water not working, cracks in the walls and ceilings, doors don't seal so they won't stay shut unless dead bolted, squeaky floors...the list goes on. The house looks good when you first look at it, but if you take a close look you can see what a lazy job was done.

I hired Daun Construction to build my home. One thing that stands out was everyone's communication skills. We were in contact daily, I was informed of the progress and was alerted anything that may be a problem. Everyone I worked with presented great pride in workmanship and built my home as if they were building it for themselves. I am delighted with the end result as well as the overall experience. Highly recommended!

We never thought we would be able to afford such a beautiful home. This brand new home was completely in our price range, but we never had to skimp on extras. The team listened to our wishes and were able to complete changes that were important to us. Our Daum home was on budget and built on time. We love our new home!

I was very happy with Daum and the house they built ,it is the best deal in this area for the price..(forget about Viking, Hallmark and those other joker companys). The subs were easy to work with and the excavator was the best i seen..highly recomend them!!!

Built my daughter a home in Post Falls. Easy to work with on selection process, got to pick our lot by the park, and best price. Would recommend them for sure!

Had a great experience working with this contractor in our new-construction home. Project was completed on time and with very satisfactory craftsmanship. We noticed a few areas that required touch up paint and caulk and they arrived promptly to do so at a time that worked with our schedule. Very pleased with our new home!

Dishonest owner. Construction was completed 2 months after agreed upon date with the builder completely neglecting our project while we remained homeless. Agreed upon warranty work not completed and impossible to reach anyone for customer service or during the building process. Would strongly recommend avoiding this company.

Bought spec home 2017. $700k price. Quality added throughout the home. Great follow from superintendant with the few issues we had during first year. They came and did a 1 yr follow up to address any issues that may have arised.
Completely satisfied with construction, follow up and quality. Love our home.

Would not recommend this builder. Poor workmanship and the warranty is a joke. You’re given a list of trades to contact and they never return to fix anything. Builder won’t take calls. Home was built in Spirit Lake and the city made a big mistake by not requiring landscape be done by builder before Certifcate of completion was issued. Big stumps above ground left right next to foundation so landscaping is a nightmare. He could have removed them in five minutes while digging foundation. Now it’s costing double to get a yard put in.

The overall construction was okay, the one year warranty is a joke. Everything ossewardeaddition stated is true. I would not recommend this builder to anyone as their customer services is no customer service.

Daum review

We bought our house in Spirit Lake that was built by Daum. They tell you that you get a 1yr warranty on the home, then they REFUSE AND IGNORE any and ALL warranty claims. The warranty is give by Daum Construction. They then give you a list of sub-contractors and tell YOU to directly contact the sub-contractor for any warranty issue. These sub-constructors then say it’s not thier issue because they only did the installation/labor. Daum bought and paid for the item or material to be installed as it is not the subs responsibility. Daum gives you no phone numbers to call, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, NO SUPPORT. Emails go unaddressed and unanswered. Items seen in the floor plan when purchased were not built into the house, so they claim the floor plan was just a concept and not written in stone, not that being in stone would be any better if you look at the concrete work as an example. Daum is using substandard concrete that has left nearly all drive ways cracked, flakey, chipped, crumbling and discolored. It would be real nice if the City of Spirit Lake had a backbone and stopped Daum from building here. BUYER BEWARE. GET A DIFFERENT BUILDER.

I'm a local Realtor and I have sold a handful of Daum Construction houses as a buyer's agent. I have sold his entry level homes to custom built $700,000 houses. You won't find a better value for the price, time to build and ease of working with Bill and his crew.

BEWARE of this builder. There craftsmanship is poor, supervisors don't return calls and ignore you. Don't be fooled by there bells and whistles finishes, look closely, workman ship is poor. We had issues in every phase on construction where things were just done wrong, except insulation that was great, however cant see it..... I would only recommend this builder to my enemy. Read reviews and do your homework before having this company build you anything. Any company that ignores its customers is a bad one!!! and yes we have water pressure issues too, this builder will omit from telling you this, even though they are fully aware of the issue!. Bad contractor......only cares about getting your money, after you pay them......Good luck getting them back out to fix stuff. 1 star is to many should have an option for Zero stars.

Many issues with this home. Doors not put in correctly. Supervisor won't return calls. driveway is corroding, would not level the yard, had water issues in garage and was told it was due to bad winter. They don't take responsibility for poor work. Very cheap workmanship. There is very poor water flow. Had City come out and check it and was told the pipes were small and preventing a decent flow of water. Makes it hard to try and water lawn. Over all, am very disappointed . Would never recommend this company.

Excellent experience, through and through love our new home

We bought an entry level house in Spirit Lake. It was constructed quickly and we moved in on time. There were a couple issues, like a gurgling drain. They fixed it by "knocking out" the capped plumbing vents on the roof used for testing, and some drywall damage which was fixed. For the price there was nothing close and we are really enjoying our first home.

Very poor quality throughout the house. Among other problems, the yard work was terrible (so little dirt that the grass struggles to grow), the grout in one shower is crumbling, the engineered flooring is beginning to come loose and make noise when walked on, the concrete patio developed 2 cracks this winter, and flushing a toilet causes gurgling noises in the bathroom sink. Don't be fooled by the nice exteriors of these homes. The workmanship of the various subs is clearly low end. I recommend you hire a different builder.

As stated previously, never returned phone calls. Always had his assistant Justin contact us and he rarely did in a timely manner. Hardly ever showed up when they said they would. They would never set a time for repairs. Always asked we be home all day and then wouldn't show up! Rude subcontractors that did not take responsibility for their poor work and frequently attempted to pawn repairs off to someone else. Used a sharpie marker to "repair" cracks in wood trim. Through request of realtor our home warranty was extended 6 months because that's how long it took to finish repairs! Would never recommend this company!

Rarely shows up to follow up on complaints. The supervisor was rude and disrespectful when asked questions. Has yet to fix problems in our home that were requested several months ago. Would not recommend.
