  kitchen remodel

  Worst experience ever – kitchen remodel. Please check reviews on this "contractor" before hiring him and wasting your money.

  Most days contractor would show up and work 1 or 2 hours and then leave. Contractor did not follow the plans that were drawn up by Mid South Building Supply (the company that recommended this contractor and also supplied the kitchen cabinets). It is hard to believe when you look at this completed job that this “contractor” was recommended by a reputable supplier. Supplier was subsequently notified of the shoddy job that was done. Cabinets do not fit properly, some are way too small and do not fill the area meant for, some are not centered, rough unfinished edges were left where the cabinets meet the walls. When I questioned this, random pieces of moulding were installed; some were even different colors stuck together. Floor was not finished properly - subfloor/plywood sticking out instead of attempting to match existing floor and patch. Tile on the walls (backsplash) is wavy/not level, some tile is not grouted at the top and tile is tilting down toward floor. Wires for existing lighting were run on top of where the tile is now placed (instead of wiring inside the wall) so there is moulding visible on top of wall tile and a big electrical box surrounded by wall tile. I was charged extra for things that were never completed but just wanted contractor finished and out of the house so badly that I just paid it.

  Received estimates to fix most of what was not completed properly (I did not wish to have the entire kitchen torn out at this point so of course this estimate is just to fix the most noticeable problems). To really correct all of the issues, cabinets and counter tops would have to be torn out completely. Will be spending at least another $11,000. Already spent $33,500 on this nightmare project.

  We had Dave Connor install 9 replacement windows. All I can say is wow!! Dave took his time measuring and explaining how the project would progress. As soon as the windows arrived, he gave me a call. Dave arrived at our home the next morning and began removing the old windows. By the end of the day our new windows were installed! Dave kept the mess to a minimum, he even vacuumed our carpets!! Thanks Dave, I will be giving him a call for our kitchen window very soon!!

  sun porch remodel

  Spring 2021 we had new Anderson windows put in our sun porch as well as siding put on ( non-existent before) wainscotting taken off , sun porch walls and window sills painted, work done to fix a joist......And had paint job done in a powder room. Dave Connor asked us for $25,000 upfront also. Sun porch work was finished but the powder room and hallway tile work was not stalled. First Dave and his partner did not compare notes and put the wrong grout on the hallway tiles that they installed. Then when it was time for the lineal tile to be installed in power room - the bone grout was put on the blue tiles instead of white. I couldn't live with the pink grout and insisted it be done over in white. He said he had a friend out of state who specialized in grout. So we waited several weeks. The white grout looked horrible so I asked that the wall tiles be taken off (they were but Dave complained that he was out the cost of the grout and I said we were out the cost of the tiles). We had a new mirror put up but there were holes behind the mirror and behind the new wall sconces ( had a later contractor spackel, re-paint). After the floor tiles were down I brought it to Dave's attention that someone had walked in the grout and smeared it all over about 6 tiles. He told us the only way to fix it was to jack hammer the tiles and replace them ! We let it go but not happy. Mid-August Dave complained of migraines and he couldn't work - he was supposed to finish the powder room himself. We still needed the wall behind the toilet painted from an upstairs leak earlier in the summer. Dave kept making excuses and never came back. January 2020 I sent him a certified letter firing him and not to come back - leave the unfinished work alone. This too was finished later by a different contractor.

  Connor Construction (David Connor) completely updated the outside of my house (new siding, trim, soffit, gutters, downspouts, lighting and windows). Great price and quality work. David was easy to work with and communicated with me every step of the way

  Window and Siding Replacement

  I do not typically write online reviews, but if it will save one person the headache we went through then it's worth it this time.

  March 2018 we hired Dave Connor to replace 34 windows in our home, plus new siding. The job was not completed until August, 2019.

  Dave was very quick to quote and ask for a deposit ($25,000 up front). The windows were to be new construction and included various arches and custom sizes. After measuring he said the window supplier (Anderson) requested they have their rep come out to do a second measurement to ensure they were done correctly since the sizes were all custom and it was a large job.

  One month later, Dave and the Anderson rep come out and remeasure everything. The Anderson Rep corrected Dave's measurements and the windows were ordered. Another 3 or 4 months after constant requests for updates, Dave said the windows arrived and they were to begin the job, which would take roughly two weeks. One window goes in and he immediately stops all work and said it is not a correct fit (too small). Dave blames the Anderson Rep for ordering the incorrect sizes and drama ensues. He reorders the windows and we wait another 4 or so months (note, he would claim they only took 6-8 weeks to arrive). After constant calls over this time he claims he went to pick up the new order and discovered the company inserted the order incorrectly and marked the trim wrong. AGAIN, the windows need to be reordered.

  After constant excuses and calls, finally in June of 2019 (over one year later of having paid him), windows and crew arrive and work begins. When we hired him he made claims that he has been working with the same guys for 25 years. They were all friends and he trusted them and knew them. When the crew arrived we realized this was not the case at all. One worker made a comment to me he had just met Dave that day.

  What Dave does, I'm really not sure of. He would show up in the morning and give directions and then leave. He was never on the job and it was up to us to supervise and make sure things were being done correctly.

  Throughout the job different workers were constantly in and out. Not one stayed through the entire time. Dave took a week vacation at one point and as a result no work was done at all so our house was left in disarray. The two week job ended up taking roughly two months. Various workers were constantly in and out of our home and left a mess. In one bedroom we discovered glass had broken and was all over the carpet.

  Dave did not utilize a dumpster, but instead would come by in the evening and fill his pickup with what he could and take it away. This resulted in multiple nails and debri being left throughout our yard and driveway (causing two flat tires). Our garage was filled with garage for about a 3 weeks after everything was complete until we finally got him to come out and get it.

  The work itself was not top quality. There were two workers towards the end who came in and who did quality work and when we brought up the issues they were the only ones who would fix them correctly. Out of roughly 15 workers that came through, two did quality work and had to fix quite a lot.

  After the job was done and we really walked around and looked at every individual window we noticed large gaps and unfished trim. We called Dave and sent pictures and he could not seem to comprehend our complaints. He finally said he'd come out and fix them, but then stopped responding to texts and calls. Over 3 months later after not hearing from him we did reach out and explain we were disappointed in the experience and would not recommend him to anyone. Quickly, he suddenly responded to that text and said he hadn't received any of the previous messages. No, he never came out to fix what we asked. We had another (this time capable) contractor do that.

  Throughout the experience Dave was friendly, but always full of excuses. Recently we were in town and ran into the three different workers from the job. They made a comment Dave had not paid them still for the work at our home nor had he paid any of the other workers to their knowledge.

  Throughout the experience we were always patient and polite to Dave. Looking back he completely took advantage of that and milked our large deposit for as long as he felt he could.

  Window install

  (Dave or David Connor Construction of Camp Hill) Needed an existing window replaced. After weeks he finally came out to measure (after I called several times). Told me he needed paid up front. Then he said he had to remeasure, waited weeks and he showed up again after I called several times. When the window came in, I had to call several times to set up install. Always an excuse. Then Covid stopped all construction. I had to call him for updates. He told me he would do my window very soon. Never heard back. I called the window place to find my window had arrived and could be picked up. I had to call him again to set it up. He finally agreed to a date, showed up and dropped off the window. He said he could not do it because it would take 4 guys to do the install. (It's 3 feet by 5 feet) although when he took my money and measured he said several times it would take 2 guys and be done quickly. Now 5 months later the window sits in my garage.

  remodel kitchen and attic

  Job was to be done in 6 weeks. Two set backs, a new roof and full rewire but job still not done after 19 weeks. Some days only one worker showed and only for a few hours. New roof started in August, still not finished in December. Too many issues and lots of excuses. Contractor did not follow customers requests for kitchen cabinets and had to tilt dishwasher to allow it to open in front of stove. We were told this was his only job but questionable since many days contractor was not on site.
