    kitchen restoration after water damage

    I had David Mendez's company called California Contracting do a kitchen restoration after significant water damage back in 2017. I would NEVER hire this company again and I DO NOT recommend them in any way!!! Reconstruction was an absolute nightmare with this company. I had to be on site to check on and manage much of the process in order to make sure they did not overlook many details, and the work was definitely subpar and unprofessional. Constant pushing by me was required to fix, finish, and RECOGNIZE things that needed to be done. I actually had to go out and buy some of the materials myself because they did not understand what the right materials were. The kitchen was never restored to its former level and appearance; their standards of construction are very low. Now, 2 years later, I am still finding shoddy, sloppy workmanship that I must deal with, which has prompted me to write this review. I should have checked with their BBB reviews before hiring them. Besides the poor workmanship, there were problems with completing the restoration and cleaning up afterwards. Working with this company felt like working with a fledgling company that lacked professionalism and competence. To top it all off, I got a bill from this company after the work was "finished" telling me that I owed them $1200.00. I actually had to explain to David how this charge was in error by going through the math step by step for him. Ridiculous!!!
