While Dave is very personable, he is a master at disguising imperfection.
We hired him to do our kitchen remodel due to a water leak.
At first, he insisted when we ordered our countertops we were to be sure and let the countertop people know he would install the countertop. It went downhill from there. Due to factory error, Home Depot error, it took us 9 months to get counter tops.
In the meantime 4 months after he installed the laminate flooring, the laminate started to move up and down when walking on it. When we initially told him he said right away it was not his fault.
My husband did some research and it turned out that the cabinets he installed directly on the laminate when it was not recommended, and he created no room for expansion and expansion, and he would fix it for us for an additional charge. This was not right. It turns out that he knew the floor was not level from the start. He did not let us know that. When installing sub floor he did not prep the floor. As a consequence, due the floor not being floated the laminate moved. Once again not his fault. He also told us that the flooring store would say it was operator error but it was not true. Unfortunately 3 flooring people from three different business’s all agreed with each other independently.
Next he installed the cabinets and they were not level so he tried to make that situation visibly acceptable.the cabinets on one end are 5 inches from ceiling and the other end 6 inches from ceiling. Visual disguise. From then on everything deteriorated and he tried to compensate or cover new problems arising.
He put down the countertop and could not get the angles to fit. His attempt to make the countertops fit was horrible. It ruined the look of the whole kitchen. When I told him I was upset with this and it was not acceptable. He told me that is what happens with these countertops, it was normal to have one side higher than the other. He also said he did his best and couldn’t make it look any better. It look terrible. So from a distance ok up close terrible. He said we would have to accept the way it looked. Turns out the countertop was 1/4 inch off center. And if the sink over flowed it would run down hill and accumulate over the seam.
The independent contractor noted if the countertops would have been level it would have worked. Instead Dave wait the countertops were cut improperly and it was not his fault. Numerous other problems were identified.
We sent an Email to Dave stating how his work was unacceptable and would need to be redone. BEWARE
