I had a Solar Panel Grid System installed at my home by Island Pacific Energy. They used Decker Electric to handle the electrical work (install the wiring, junction boxes, outlets, circuit breaker panels, inverter box, etc.). Decker Electric is a company that consists of a Dad and his two sons, who I believe relocated to Hawaii from Alaska (I think??). The Dad and his two sons were very professional and cordial and always cleaned up at days end.
Initially, all went as planned and the installation of the electrical work, junction boxes and conduits were installed after a brief review with me, to insure that I was in agreement of where the boxes and conduits should be installed. But a few weeks later, my inverter system started to send alerts of electrical arching taking place within the system, and the system would automatically shut down so no further damage could be done to the system. Island Pacific Energy came out to check the electrical connections between the solar panels and the inverter and could not find a problem. The system would run fine again for a few days and then the electrical arch warning would come back again. Island Pacific Energy came out a few more times and even had their team take each of the 21 solar panels off of their rack to check each connection for any arching issues. None were found.
As they started to review the rest of the system, they finally found the problem. The wiring that connects the PV array to the Inverter system was loose or not tightened down properly, and because of this, this junction box connection was causing electrical arching and melting the connection port. A new connection box array had to be ordered, so the system had to be shut down for a few weeks while we waited for the new part to be shipped from the mainland US.
The representative from Island Pacific Energy did mention that this was only the second time that they've come across this type of situation with this particular inverter made by SMA. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with how Decker Electric installed this system. But the rep did indicate that they just started working with Decker Electric.
Once the replacement part arrived, Island Pacific Energy contacted Decker Electric to have the new part installed. The father did the re-install himself and apologized for the mishap, blaming one of his sons for the botched work.
The system has worked fine ever since.

If I could give Brian and his team at Decker Electric 100 stars I would.
Decker electric is easy to work with, tremendously knowledgeable, has flexible scheduling and very friendly. When I first talked to Decker I was not completely sure what I wanted and had 0 experience, they were so kind to me. Together we made a plan of attack on my electrical work that was good for my timeline and didn't break my budget.

I love these guys and trust them 100%.
They bid a unique lighting job. It ended up more complicated than could have been anticipated. Yet, they worked for the additional HOURS needed and honored their original price without even asking. Exceptional service, on time and enjoyed working with them! Calling them back today for a new job.
