I don’t normally leave reviews, but I feel it’s important to share my experience for others considering Decks By Mike (Woodbury, MN).
I hired the owner to install a Trex deck, and unfortunately, the results were far from professional.
The installation was not done according to Trex’s own guidelines. There are visible gaps at every fascia seam, and some boards were cut too short and patched with scraps—one area even has two fascia boards stacked in an attempt to make them meet. Exposed nails were left without plugs, and the cuts throughout the deck are jagged, from using an old blade.
When I voiced my concerns, the owner responded aggressively—raising his voice and stomping around—then promised to return to address the issues. He never came back. I later asked for a partial refund so I could have someone else make the necessary repairs. He initially agreed, then changed his mind and stopped responding entirely.
I would strongly recommend doing your research and asking for detailed references before moving forward with this business. I wish I had.
