Last year I went into to office and talked to the Owner for a redesigning project. He was nice and very professional. After discussing for the price of $175/hour for his designer and a minimum of 2 hours or $300 for consultation, I agreed and he told me he would send his designer to meet me at my address.
Weeks later a lady came to my address and introduced herself as an interior designer, with all respect I sign the contract she gave me since she said everything in the contract was due to what I and David discussed. And I wrote her a $1000 retain check.
Days after she shown up at my address to show me some pictures and some door knobs, the pictures and some generic color samples she picked from the paint store. The pictures were OK and they are not new idea since I could find them on google and pinterest. But I wanted to see what her idea was.
Almost a month after I came to her office to return the sample she left at my salon and wanted to ask her to stop the design progress because I had not seen anything because I already had other designer help. She shown me her hand drawn grid according to my salon dimension, and some object represent my fixtures. I was nice enough not to tell her but I was disappointed, but I left in happy and she said to "SORRY, I COULDN'T HELP".
Now months after that event they sent me a refund check for about $100 and when I requested information, they charged my for 5.5 hours of Megan did nothing much to help me, and 37 miles travelling. After negotiating for discount per the discussion between me and David at the first place, I am more than happy to pay him $300 or 2 hours or whatever the minimum we discussed but they refused and threatened to file a lawsuit if I file a complaint against their company.
So my lesson is make sure you have everything cleared in the contract and check their works enough before hiring them. They are not low level designer and their services and products are very expensive (though very typical in appearance - you can find better stuff for better price at a better close by warehouse). So I leave a 2 star review is because I had a nice talk with David, and 2 star review because they charged me for whatever I didn't receive in value, and 2 star review for their cooperation in resolving the problem with clients.
