We always try to use local business when we need a project done on our home and we knew Dale Manss (the owner of Design Marble Works) through our surf connections. We spent over $10 grand on having him put Quarts counter tops in our kitchen. It took him 3 weeks to do the job and when he was done he used a soft rubber type grout that started peeling out 2 weeks after being done. We called him and he came out and regrouted, using the same type of grout??? We called him again and he said he wouldn't come out again to replace the grout and that "we just use too much water"! WHAT??? We then spoke with his wife Jeanie who even said "he's not very reliable" but that they would come out and redue the shoddy job. She made two different apointments with us and he never showed up! So now we have to find someone to do the job right. It looks awful. He made us feel like he was doing us a big favor for even showing up. Very unreliable, poor work ethics, and a mess of a job that took 3 weeks (should have been 2-3 days), according to other tile setters. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone.

This was the worst experience I have ever had. The first day was renegotiating the contract, done. I gave him one third down to start. Next came complaining about the floor tile we chose, changed. Next coming home from an errand, his helper was using my power tools from my shop without asking. I told Dale and helper that they improperly using the tool and could get seriously injured or worst. I said if you need something, just ask. The next day I found Dale looking around inside my shop? He said he was looking for some nails or screws, again I reminded him to just ask. His response was, well don’t get mad. I said I wasn’t to keep the peace. The third day I was doing errand and got a call from my wife saying Dale needed a check for $700 to pay the plumber, I told her that’s in Dale’s contract. Dale and I talked and he got annoyed and said ok. When I got home around noon my wife said Dale left after we talked, I thought for lunch, no return that Friday. Saturday morning his helper came by to pickup tools because they were working on Dale’s house over the weekend. Monday came, no show! I called the tile supplier not to give Dale any material until after he and I talked. The supplier informed me he was not returning because things did not work between us. Now, Dale removed all his old business cards from the supplier and gave him new cards with new company name. I called Dale to hear his side and tried to get some monies back and he said no way because I got more then I paid for.
Here go looking for a new tile installer to find that everything Dale installed had to be torn out and redone because of improper preparation installation. They left all the trash behind and a nightmare of grief to get my shower done.
I will never recommend this company to friend or foe. Also, the reason for the one star, it was required before making review.
I took him to small claims court for ABANDONING a contract and won a partial return. From what I have heard, I am not the only unhappy victim.
