  I would NOT recommend this business if you want roofing work done. Our Metal roofover was done March, 2018, due to ONE water intrusion spot from Hurricane Irma. The subcontractor, Kenny Powell, and his crew took a total of 7 hours to complete a metal roof over on a 2200sf manufactured home. Since that time, there has been 6 more points of water intrusion, and now mold. Come to find out, Kenny Powell put the underlay on wrong, so everything was sinking into the old roof, and eventually into the house. He was contacted many times, and we were told he would come by to fix, and he would never show. It turns out that, not only was Kenny lying to us, he was also lying to the company owner, Desmond as well. Then we were told that "it was like that before the new roof went on." Seems like they tell everyone that, as it is in many of the reviews. We have been battling this for over a year, and it is still not resolved. Poor workmanship, lies, coverups, and just taking advantage of people in general. Now I have mold in my house, and my kids and I are sick, as we have severe mold allergies.

  New roof on a house

  Desmond Rowden installed the roof on my house in Spring of 2015 and there was already seams popping and a large area of ponding water on the flat roof by later 2015. I got in touch with the rep who handled this project to come look at those areas I was starting to get concerned about and he eventually looked at them in 2016. His feedback was generally "those areas don't look great, but there is no leak right now so we'll just keep an eye on it in the future".

  Fast forward to late 2018 when I am trimming some trees around my house and see that the ponding area is worse than before, and the seams are popping up in that pond making it look like my roof will develop significant leaks very soon. Concerned, I tried to get a hold of their office, eventually speaking with a new sales rep as the old one was no longer with the company. The Owner instructed me to share the information with this sales rep; Rovaldo, and he would get back with me. I sent him all the information and asked for him to come take a look at the roof so we could figure out a way to address these areas of concern efficiently. Rovaldo never responded in the month after I first spoke to him. I eventually got in touch with the Owner this week and got the following feedback:

  The ponding was an issue in the construction of the house before their roof went on, so it's not their fault. I responded that I understand that, but as a professional roofer they should have spoken up if they saw the plywood/framing installed before them was going to create problems with the flat roof later, why didn't they? Additionally, the sales rep that did the job wrote "15 year [warranty] on flat" on the paperwork. Even though this roof is currently just under four years old, Desmond Rowden roofing said they will actually only honor a one year warranty on flat roof and thus they don't have any responsibility for the roof they installed four years ago that is currently falling apart.

  In summary, I understand that the ponding is not entirely caused by the roofer but the fact that they installed a roof they were concerned about (or didn't know enough to be concerned), are not honoring their paperwork, installed a flat roof that can't make it four years without being replaced and finally; are unwilling to work with me to get some solutions to my problems make them a terrible roofing company. Every company makes mistakes sometimes, but at least work with me to help fix the poor installation. Other potential customers will save themselves heartache and thousands of dollars in eventual repairs if they do not use Desmond Rowden LLC roofing.
