Put a 25% deposit down for a project but ended up having to fire Destry before he finished the job. Two days before getting canned he’d indicated that he’d worked about half of the hours I’d already paid him for. After letting him go I asked him to pay back the difference. Two days later I got a bill that just happened match the amount I’d paid in advance. It listed a convenience fee and a 25% surcharge for materials that weren’t on the estimate and hadn’t been charged for the other work he’d completed in the last. The hours he made up to keep the rest of my money were almost laughable. (Apparently it took him eight hours to write the invoice….which was for a total of 6k.) What a joke. I’m half afraid to write this because I don’t want to get my tires slashed, but it’s important that other people know what they’re getting into. Do yourself a favor and take it from me: hire anyone but Destry Smith.
