By Maxim T.June 13, 2019New Construction Single family residential$130,000
Steve was hired to manage new single family construction with every piece already bidden out and priced out. As all above said, he has zero experience with construction of any kind. He managed to steal/re-sell about 15000 worth of material, gave subcontractors fraudulent checks and caused a great deal of damage to where everything needed to be either demolished or re-done. The damages from his work amounted to over 65000. We currently have a lawsuit against the company and Steve Zarate directly. Zarate has prior felony conviction for fraud. Stay away

I have to agree with the review from Kristi on October 25, 2018. Worst decision I have made. Same results. Comes across as knowing what he is doing, did not manage his subcontractors. Numerous times work had to be redone and there was always an excuse why there was work not being done. My first experience with Buildzoom as well as a contractor on this level. Steve Zarate, owner, did not manage the money he was paid and not only left me with an incomplete project, but left his subcontractors unpaid. I will repeat the previous reviewers waning. STAY AWAY for Diamar Construction and the owner Steve Zarate.
Just as a side note, Jeremy Mathis, the rep from buildzoom could not even respond to my email about the situation

Hiring Diamar Construction was the worst decision I have ever made. Steve has zero experience with commercial buildout, though he represented otherwise. He greatly underbid the project, and instead of admitting his error, he stalled my project for 3 months, mismanaged his subcontractors, only to quit because he was unable to answer simple questions or offer solutions. He was also unable to provide receipts for where all of the funds were spent. Build zoom was of no assistance in this matter, they were never able to contact him to discuss the matter. We currently have pending litigation against him. Stay away!

Diamar Construction and Steve Zarate is the worst contractor out there. They were to build a single home residence, and as others have said, Steve did not pay subcontractors, or vendors and left us with over 80k of damage. STAY AWAY from him he is straight up thief and does not know anything about construction.
