Williams, Donald W
Not sure what issues Don from DNT Electric is undergoing, but I suspect substance abuse as there is no other explanation for his erratic behavior. He completed a project for us & did a decent job but didn't complete one final portion. We paid him promptly for all his invoices on the job which amounted to 95% of what he was owed & told him when he got the final piece done we would pay him his final invoice and that we had it on hand for the day he completed the work. Mind you the final piece was something he said was a simple matter and he would have no problem getting it done.
We made several phone calls, over a 60 day period, telling him we had a check in hand to pay him once he completed the work. Never once on those calls/voicemails did he say he didn't want to come back or reach out to us with a return call about anything (he stopped returning calls).
We assumed that he was swamped with work & our project would have to wait to get done. He never called us to talk about the matter & we had discussed thousands of dollars in additional projects we had planned for him to complete down the road. Clearly we were ready to pay him & had expressed it via several phone calls over 2 months. However, instead of calling us to discuss the matter, he sends a threatening letter instead. We called him once we received the letter and he was even more unprofessional over the phone and it wasn't until that point that he told us he had no plans to come back and do the work and he demanded we pay him his final invoice.
We cannot explain how unprofessional his behavior is & how disappointed we were. There was nothing that lead us to suspect he would behave this way as he was good for the majority of our project. The only thing we can determine is that something personal is going on that is dramatically affecting his professional life. No normal level headed person would behave like this. The final check he never stopped by to pick up was for around $500 and his invoice wasn't even 60 days old yet. He never once called us about the check so we assumed he wasn't in a rush to get it and would do the work and pick the check up in the near future; especially, since we had a lot of future work planned for him. I advise all to beware as it might be a precursor to even worse behavior or performance on your job site.
We will keep Don in our prayers as we think he is a good guy, but currently under the influence of something that is clouding his judgment and causing unprofessional behavior.
