Steve Dooley
I hope to protect the public from this scam artist. Please save yourself and never hire Steve Dooley. He DID NOT FINISH THE JOB BUT TOOK OVER $5,100 FROM ME. One part of the contract that HE wrote up was to restore my kitchen to its original position (it was sinking). Before I agreed to hire him, he even did this test where he put a ball on the floor so I could see it roll downhill--as if I didn't know my kitchen was sinking. Well, he did NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING to restore my kitchen to its original position. It is just as slanted as ever, AND HE INSTALLED NO PIERS AND BUILT NO NEW SUPPORTS IN THE KITCHEN CRAWL SPACE, even though the contract he wrote up AND SIGNED said he would install three piers. (He installed two piers in the front part of the house, but NONE in the kitchen.) The vinyl flooring he installed was askew--with the pattern completely crooked. I called him to have him redo it, and that's where his shenanigans got worse. I HAD TO HAVE A WHOLE NEW CREW COME IN TO REDO HIS FLOORING JOB!!! In addition, the contract that HE wrote up also required that he address the moisture issue in the crawl space, which was the original reason I had him come over in the first place. HE DID NOTHING TO ABATE THE MOISTURE PROBLEM. NOTHING. I had to hire ANOTHER contractor who instantly observed the problem was the downspout drained right against the foundation and into the crawl space. Why didn't Steve Dooley address this as promised? All he did was install a piece of tubing to extend out the water heater overflow pipe away from my house---well guess what--my water heater has never overflowed! I had asked him, as part of our original agreement, to please extend out the HVAC condensation discharge tubes. He extended NONE of them--only the water heater overflow pipe--which has never overflowed. Please, public, BEWARE of this fraud!! I'm out over $5,000 dollars, and my kitchen is still slanted downhill!!! He also promised any building inspector would approve of his work, but he did NOT get a permit and did NOT have an inspector approve the work! Save yourself and do not hire Steve Dooley. One last thing, the new sub floor underneath the vinyl floor (that I had to hire a whole new crew to rip out and reinstall) is UNEVEN. Steve Dooley installed subfloor boards at slightly different heights, so when you walk on the entry way floor it is uneven. The original floor in the entry way was NOT uneven.
