I hired Mike to do a porch railing and cover porch posts.
He was to custom make a gate.
This work led to basement stair rails, new deck floor and railing, new post covers on the patio which do not match with the promise to fix this, and a new metal garage roof.
I am still waiting for gates and patio post wraps.
    Numerous calls get me nowhere.
I live on a highly visible house and people stop to ask me if I would recommend Mike.
    Not now.
I never believed he would not keep his word and fill his paid for obligations.
Should have read the reviews first.

    Repair sewer line
    $1,000

Hired Mr. Brown to repair a collapsed sewer outlet pipe upon the recommendation of the broker that we bought the house from a few weeks before. It was right before Labor Day weekend and we had 4 students living in the house and couldn't get roto-rooter or any other reputable company out until after the weekend and the broker assured me he was great.

He agreed to do the work the next day (Thursday) but would need to be paid in advance because his son's were leaving late for their vacation for this job and knowing better, I paid. He didn't show up Thursday or Friday, and after calling/texting numerous times he said they were on their way as we spoke. About 10 hours later, he rolled up and attached a small pvc pipe to the sewer outlet and RAN IT INTO THE YARD next door!!! We didn't realize that it was running raw sewage into grass until the next morning. Again, after many calls/texts he says this is totally ok because they are out of town, and he will fix it the next day. We are now well past the Thursday we agreed to and I have been paying for a hotel for the students. He then explained that he would not be able to bury the new pipe because the yard is sloped and the digger machine thing wouldn't work. After veiled threats to report this to the city, he agreed to fix the temporary pipe to drain into the sewer immediately and that the final fix needed to be buried. I guess immediately means over 24 hours, because it took that long to run the pvc pipe to the sewer pipe. 3 more days go by and no word. Its now been a week. I text him and he says he was actually on his way right now to finish. My son called to tell me that he spread a bag of garden dirt over the pipe THAT IS LAYING ON THE GRASS and left. I called him the next morning and he happily reported that he as all done. He actually argued that yes, a main sewer line running through an interior plumbing pvc pipe laying on the grass was totally ok. I reiterated that neither I nor the city would find this acceptable. He again promised to fix it properly the next day.

I called the City to see if they had any suggestions, and they actually have an employee referral for employees to do jobs on their personal time - yippeee! I got a guy out that afternoon that dug up the pipe and replaced it to code. He was astounded that Mr. Brown left it like it was. He charged me less and got it done in one afternoon.

After another week, I texted Mr Brown that I had hired someone else to finish the work and he needed to refund my $. He called me immediately and said what a coincidence, he was on his way to my house to do the work! He explained that he needed a part to finish that took this long to arrive, but he had stopped by the house that morning to make sure it would fit, and then went to get the digger and his son's. When I told him that was funny, he should have seen that it was already repaired when he stopped by. He called me a B and hung up on me, and that was the end of that.

After owning the house for a while, we learned that any work he actually completed was terrible. I paid to redo pretty much everything he was paid to do. He is a liar and a crook and terrible at any work he actually manages to complete. He also uses his religion to convince people he isn't a crook, and that is just next level awful.

I informed the broker about all this, and he said he was just shocked, shocked I tell you! and then kept using him to do work on his 'remodels' (flips) so be very careful buying a house remodeled by Steve Walker.

I need my clapboards covered with insulation and siding. The soffits need to be replaced with vinyl. There will be 12 shutters to replace. For extra money, I will need 4 of my outside steps replaced. Mike Brown says he will show up, but never does. I need to get my $14,000 back from him. If he refuses or his check bounces, there will be trouble!

    Door installation

We hired Mike to put in 3 patio doors for us. After a two week delay, he shows up with two other members of his family to help him.
They managed to get one patio door in but damaged the paint and drywall on the inside of the house and didn't complete trimming or sealing on the outside.
At the end of the day he asks for payment plus extra because he wanted to pay his family on the spot.
I've called and texted him every other day for the last month and haven't heard back.
I'm reporting him to the Better Business Bureau and then putting in a claim at Menards to remove his business from their listed door installers.

Do not do business with this man.

    Bathroom

Mike had taken a check from me at Menards for cabinets and a pantry for my kitchen . I
Never heard from him again . He had remodeled my small bathroom and there were repairs after the remodel like loose faucet in tub , leaking downstairs in plumbing , etc . This man claims to be a preacher and uses that to fool us . I plan to take further action as this was a substantial amount of money I had paid him and he lied to me! Do not use him for anything ever .

    Roof
    $5,500

This guy (Mike Brown) is a crook and con artist. I gave him $5000 for materials, etc on a roof job, and he kept putting off doing job. It’s now been over a year and still have not gotten my money back. I have a judgement against him. Do not do business with him or any of his family.

Paint, replace fan, fix door on fridge, complete his incomplete deck work, etc
    $1,600

Mike is a charming man. He had a 2 week timeframe. He provided an estimate, received half the money. He then paid "painters" to do part of the job. These painters forgot to paint the hallway and did a crappy job. He then had his share of repairs. He asked for the other half of the money stating he had paid the painters. He was going to patch over the bad painting. He NEVER DID THE JOB. He said he would refund the $800. That was in June, 2000. It is now October. He refuses to answer his phone. STAY AWAY FROM HIM. DO NOT TRUST.
