Some lessons are hard learned. In Dec 2020 I used Mike with Double HH mechanical to install a new condenser for our walk-in cooler. He was a regular customer in our store and I like the thought of repaying regulars by using them for business if I can. I purchased the condenser and had it here ready for him to install. I had a nearly full jug of freon that I had purchased and told him if the unit needed to be topped off, to use it. After the install the walk in was running well. Too well. The thermostat system had been bypassed and the condenser never shut off. Next thing we know our beer cooler is a beer freezer. I also noticed the jug of freon I had told him to use if needed was missing (approximately $350 worth of freon) and there was no way he needed the entire jug to service the unit. I tried to reach out to him and he never answered phone calls or text messages. About 6 mo later he started shopping in our store again. By this point the thermostat issue had been resolved by another AC tech. He mentioned that he'd gotten sick with COVID and was out of commission for a while. I just let it go, figured it was a lesson learned.
Fast forward 2 1/2 years. Both of the rooftop AC units on our store needed to be replaced. I called around to get quotes. I decided to let Mike give us a quote for the new units. His pricing and availability were very competitive with all of the other quotes and we decided to give him our business again. The arrangement was for us to purchase the two units that needed to be installed and that he would install them for $2500 each unit. ($5k total) The first unit was installed at the end of June 2022. It works with no problems. I paid Mike with a check for the install on that one and received an invoice via email that evening. The second unit was installed about a week later and the volume of air coming out of the vents is very low. Even at the vent closest to the unit it is barely blowing. I shot Mike a text message asking him to come take a look at it to make sure everything was hooked up at the rooftop unit and didn't get a response. I tried calling him and got sent to voicemail with no response back. I have emailed him with no response, and today I tried calling him from the stores phone and left a voicemail. He called back, but as soon as we answered the phone with the standard greeting of the business name he hung up. I know it was him because we have caller ID. I have resorted to having to have another AC tech come out and look at our unit tomorrow to fix/finish the work that Double HH Mechanical has failed to finish. This will be adding extra expense to a job that has already been paid for.
Bottom line, learn from my mistake and DO NOT USE DOUBLE HH MECHANICAL! I will be posting this review on every website I can find that has this business listed to get the word out.
