It is inconceivable that this could happen nowadays, but it happened to me! Be careful who you hire to do your home renovations because it could impact your future dreams. My home on Milford Street suffered significant water damage and required a full gut, so I hired John Downey as General Contractor in August 2024 to oversee all aspects of my home’s renovations and for HVAC heating and air installation, I hired Ryan Walsh, owner, operator of Dependable Air Solutions. John charged GC fees during the entire time he was there and frequently met with all subcontractors. In July 2025, John Downey advised me that all trades were done, so foam insulation could commence which was completed week of 7/24/25. Then John approved blueboard, plaster and paint, BUT unbeknownst to me, ductwork had NOT been installed. I trusted both men, so sent final payment to Ryan Walsh totally $24,200. John took zero responsibility and abandoned my home on 8/31/25 rather than staying and making things right - John blocked me on Facebook and on his cell phone. When John Downey left, so did Ryan Walsh. I only have a Bryant furnace and a pile of inadequate uninstalled ductwork. Ryan Walsh ghosted me and will not return calls. I am a 64-year-old single woman, and the money for my home’s renovations came from my insurance settlement. Subsequent contractors have inspected my home, heard what happened and are appalled.
