By Jacqueline D.August 10, 2021Pool and deck$60,000Response from Downrite Pool & Spa, Inc August 11, 2021Regrettably 2020 and 2021 have been unprecedented years for the pool and spa industry. The pandemic created unparalleled demand for new pool construction and upgrades to existing pools at a time when manufacturing output was being affected by temporary closures and shipping carriers were experiencing delays due to record breaking shipment volumes. The torrential down pours we have experienced so far this rainy season have further augmented the delays to all our projects. As a result, this has contributed to some overwhelming delays with regards to our pool construction projects. What use to be a 3 month normal time frame for a new pool construction, is now taking 6 to 8 months to complete. We recognize these delays caused by manufacturing, supply and lack of personnel constraints have led to some frustration for homeowners who are eagerly awaiting the completion of their pool projects. As your pool contractor currently building simultaneous swimming pools for; 1- Mr. and Mrs. Dominguez Jr. 2- Mr. and Mrs. Dominguez Sr. 3- Mr. and Mrs. Dominguez Brother and sister. We have expressed these delays many times. We have our professionals currently working at 100% capacity to do all we can to get our pool construction projects completed in an expedited manner to help mitigate these delays. We understand how difficult it can be having to wait for such an exciting project to be completed, and we appreciate your patience as we work diligently to meet the needs of our customers. We also want to emphasize that, while we look to speed up our delivery timelines, our commitment to producing the highest-quality swimming pools will not be affected. Our first priority is to deliver a beautiful swimming pool our customers can appreciate for the long-term so that you can enjoy your pool now and into the future. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we work tirelessly to navigate these current circumstances together. On Friday, August 20th, Downrite had the paver crew on site and ready to commence the installation of the pool deck. However we were unable to proceed due to work being performed by other contractor which completely obstracted all access to rear. Making it impossible for our paver crew to commence. Our project manger observed the following work taking place. 1- Clearing grass around the lake area. 2- Removal of tree trunks and other debris. 3- Application of play sand around the lake area. DownRite has no objections with the other work taking place. Downrite does have an issue with regards to the recent outburst that took place on your behalf a couple weeks ago. At which point you falsely accused DowRite of intentionally delaying your pool construction among other things. Even going as far as writing negative reviews with the BBB and BuildZoom. Knowing the work described above needed to take place prior to the pool deck installation. Your lack of planning and communication with DownRite has created a scheduling conflict resulting in further delays with the pool construction. In addition, your false negative reviews with BBB and BuildZoom clearly have a direct affect with Downrite's potential future customers which consequently affects our livelihood. I expect these reviews to be retracted and a formal apology on your behalf be submitted.

I am extremely disappointed in the level of professionalism and integrity the owners, Onan and Barbara (Barbie) Castillo have with their work and clients. Building a pool is a big investment and selecting the right builder is an even bigger decision. Downrite Pools did the job fast, however a few months after completing the job, I noticed my brand new pool had developed 4 rust-like looking spots. Apparently, the shotcrete applied was too thin and/or too close to the rebar structure causing it to stain the surface of the pool. I immediately contacted Onan and he promised to repair it, he said that since (at that time) summer was coming, he suggested that my family enjoyed the pool now and he would repair during the month of November when it was cooler. I trusted and believed him at that point, so we waited. Then November came and he was a no-show, but continued to make false promises, which at that time I still believed. Fast forward about a year of calls, texts, and more empty promises, he does not answer my husband or my calls, and when we go see him in person he continues to say that he will take care of repairing it. Onan's wife, Barbie, is even worse, treating you as if she's giving charity and outright says, "we are too busy now, we'll repair whenever we can...". Lady, I paid you all the money as requested in good faith and we signed a contract which you broke. All I want is for Downrite Pools to comply with their part of the agreement, which is to deliver a new pool in a good condition. The sad part is that I just found out they don't even have a contractor license yet, they only have a pool cleaning license. I will do my due diligence to inform the Department of Business and Professional Regulation as well as the Better Business Bureau so that others don't go through the same horrible experience as I did. I am an avid supporter of small businesses, but in this case if I could go back in time, I would select a reputable company that has time and a proven track record in the industry with verifiable customer reviews and the ability of delivering the services and quality discussed at the moment of signing the contract.

As a consumer who hired Downrite Pool & Spa a.k.a First Chance Pool to build us a new oasis we are completely dissatisfied with owner Onan Castillo. As the consumer, we should have reviewed the contractor's information better before hiring them. We had issues with every step of the construction process. Beginning with the design that we wanted, every stage in the construction process to the end product. I will not recommend this company. These are the contractors that give other contractors a bad name.

Would not recommend down rite pools. We signed a contract with them in October 2020. Our pool was not started until 5 months later and since they began construction we have been 16 weeks in construction and the pool still is not completed. we have had pavers sitting on our front porch for over 2 months. They do not answer phone call or text message. They are never available to speak to you or ever at the business location. I would have expected professionalism, communication and pool to be completed in a timely manner, unfortunately these were all expectations and none of that was delivered.
