Owner took up front payment, started work, made up story about getting robbed to get more money, abandoned project (it's been over 4 months since they were here), would tell me "they'll be there tomorrow", never came, kept making up stories why they couldn't come. What was done, was not done to code (after assuring me it would be done differently). Left deck railing posts without bolts. Left deck floor as plywood instead of Trex. Left a complete mess.

Even if you are desperate because you can't find help do not hire Kelly. While I immediately liked her I was beyond disappointed that she did not fulfill any of her promises. She will walk around your job and tell you "oh yeah, we can do that, that's easy" she will tell you about her crew and how great they are and she will be there to supervise the work. A few short weeks later Kelly was slandering her employee to the point I asked her, "if they are so terrible then why did you have them working for you and why were they in my home!" Kelly did not supervise (by her own admission). The only time I saw Kelly was to collect checks. As of today, she owes me over $9k for materials I prepaid. Kelly refuses to respond to my repeated requests to either give me the materials or my money. Initially, she said she would have the materials delivered to me. Now? Crickets. I am filing a small claim and...will win.

Why Driving Force Construction is NOT RECOMMENDED....sharing our lessons with a subpar contractor.
The initial patio pour looked good, better than we imagined actually. The red dye and brick stamp was a real eye catcher....however, the 2nd pour had this entire project take a very bad turn:
1. The patio was not protected when the patio steps were poured. The patio was damaged and marred
2. The brick stamp was not consistantly applied up to base of house
3. The sidewalk is subpar....
3a. The brick pattern was stamped incorrectly
3b. The brick pattern was applied in a crooked manner
3c. The brick pattern was not applied consistently, it's barely visible in many areas
3d. Because the brick pattern was applied in wrong direction, the cuts that need to be made will now go against the pattern instead of with the pattern
4. The pour was shorted by a yard
5. The base of house and backdoor was not taped off to protect from cement splatter
6. The cement was poured right up to foundation vents, now causing potential rain water to flow into the vents and under the house...new contractor trying to find a fix for this, may need to tear out the concrete
7. Contractor has stated the job is done, however the sidewalk from gate to driveway was not poured and the concrete has not been sealed.
8. Mess left in front yardWe've had 3 contractors out who specialize in concrete work, without telling them the history, we let them take a look and make recommendations for finishing the last yard of cement needed for the sidewalk, all came back with same conclusions of subpar work. It's actually been suggested that the entire project be demolished and start again.
After already paying Driving Force construction $12,386 of the initial project estimate of $13,331 we are weighing our options. We never got the patio cover which was part of the project estimate.
The contractors liability insurance expires 3/29, so now we must work quickly to file a claim to get reimbursed for the additional costs to have this finished and fixed.

On January 22, 2022 Driving Force Construction (Kelly Lenz) and I made an agreement to install new flooring in my home. After some discussion we decided to do a complete remodel.
Work began on March 7.
After demolition of bathroom and kitchen, the first phase was flooring, The installation was very good, but the flooring itself was not what I wanted. I had even given Kelly a sample of what I wanted. She claimed that this would save money.
The second phase, painting, was completed without protecting the flooring. The result of this phase was paint-splotched floors and subpar seam repair with little texturing. The paint job was done so poorly that the old color showed through the new paint. I demanded that they repaint, which they did, but they still missed many spots.
Baseboard angles were cut incorrectly, closet doors installed inside-out with incorrect hardware (some re-used, painted-over hinges), rough seams in drywall painted over with no finishing at all.
Some of the materials were completely unusable due to the shape of my house. (microwave/range hood) The sink is not what I wanted at all, but can't be returned. Most materials never showed up, though Kelly said they were at her house. (shower, bathroom flooring, toilet, countertop, heaters, hardware, etc.) Other materials were of the lowest quality (kitchen cabinets, refrigerator, dishwasher, etc)
On May 17, 2022 I noticed that all of Driving Force Constructions' tools and personal effects had been removed from my house leading me to believe that my project had been abandoned. They left me with no working bathroom, kitchen or heat.
I have paid Driving Force Construction $43,700.00 in cash, paid rent to live elsewhere, and am now paying another contractor to clean up Driving Force Constructions' mess as well as finish the job.
Kelly refuses to provide receipts or to justify here employees' work hours, though this was promised in the original agreement. She also neglected to pay her subcontractors. Ion June 7, 2022 I paid Ford Electric 3974.59 for work on my house that was ordered by Kelly.
