I went with Drvenkar Custom Homes to build my dream house because the owner (Nick Drvenkar) had a clean record and he was very open, friendly and answered all of my questions. He was always prompt with getting issues resolved during the building process and all was great until about 2 weeks after I closed on the home (March 7, 2016). There were still a few outstanding issues that needed to be addressed among them: re-surface and re-paint 2 fairly large and noticeable sections of a wall where his contractors had to cut into to get to some components behind the wall, install the proper wiring so that the home could have wireless internet and cable services and finish the cook top surround (tile and grout) once range hood was in place. I called and texted him several times to get at least the painting and electrical issue resolved. When I finally heard back from him, he said that he would be filing bankruptcy and there was nothing he could do to resolve the issues with my home. This was a complete shock because just 2 weeks prior, we had discussed him coming back to the house after closing to address/fix any outstanding issues and he NEVER gave any inclination that he was in potential financial distress. Now, I am left high and dry with incomplete work on HIS part and NO guarantee of a 1 year builders warranty. I invested THOUSANDS of dollars into this home and I can only pray that nothing major arises within my first year of living there. I even asked if he could at least get his sign and silt fencing off of the property so that my HOA would not fine me and he never responded. He also owes me $660.00 from builder credits that I am sure I won't see. My advice to potential clients is stay far, far away from Nick Drvenkar Custom Homes and do your homework before selecting a builder. I am sure he will try to keep operating under a different name but be on the look out for Nick or Pauline Drvenkar (his wife, in case he tries to operate under her name).
