DSC Construction is an incredible company to work with. Douglas - owner is the up-most professional and has a great crew of guys working for him. He meets all his deadlines and surpasses some of them. He and his men stripped the entire roof (pitched roof) of my 3 family home and installed a new roof in less than 48 hours. Just in time for the snowstorm this weekend. I highly recommend DSC Construction for any job you need done. They are licensed & insured! I look forward to working with Douglas and DSC in the near future.
I met Douglas - Owner of DSC through a close friend of mine that referred me to him after a contractor I hired to replace my roof could not finish the job. I hired a contractor to replacement the roof. I asked the contractor if he was licensed and insured to work on my roof and he said, "Yes." However, after 5 weeks from the date that we initiated our contract, this contractor had not completed my roof and left all the roofing materials he ordered in my driveway. This prompted me to request a copy of his insurance certificate and license number. Upon further request and my investigative efforts, this contractor had a revoked license and was not insured to work on my roof as well as never presented a permit from the city to work on my roof. This contractor and I agreed that he should not proceed with this job and return to me the 40% deposit that I gave him. The contractor also left all the materials that he orders on my driveway including a palette of 40 roofing shingles. No other roofing companies would work with me in a reasonable fashion except DSC Construction. Douglas saved my hide and worked with me immediately. He also presented his license and insurance information immediately upon request. In less than 10 days, he initiated a contract with me and installed a new roof. If it wasn't for Douglas, my family and I would be in a terrible situation. I fully recommend Douglas to anyone that needs any work done on their house. This company is a truly a blessing!

The owner of this company is an unethical businessman, who plays fast and loose with his license.
I finally broke down and hired an attorney.
I have a dangerous, new set of interior stairs in my home. Last November, Douglas Arevalo pulled a permit with the City of Chelsea for this project. He showed up occasionally (usually to smooth things over when I was fed up with the progress and quality of the work), sometimes alone and other times with a crew.
When it became obvious to me that the stairs were unsafe (uneven stair heights, winder stairs that had no stair directly beneath them, hand rails that were much higher in some places than others, etc.) and no one had shown up for several days, I went to the city.
The Chelsea Inspector's Office issued a violation report. The city inspector, while standing in my Living Room, placed a call to Mr. Arevalo and informed him that the stairs were dangerous and he was responsible for replacing them.
Repeated requests to have Mr. Arevalo return and complete the work have not yielded any results. Mr. Arevalo claims that he was merely letting another worker use his license (renting out his license) and should not be held responsible for the unfinished, unsafe staircase.
He also claimed that he already had more work than he could handle and didn't have the time or manpower to correct the work. With so much work, it's surprising that he would jeopardize his license pulling permits for others.
I hired an engineering firm to assess the staircase. Their report indicates that it violates MA building codes from the top step to the bottom and must be torn out.
