This came and only did half the work and I had to finish! What a con man! Luckily was able to stop payment on a check and he did give me money back.

Working with this carnival act was one of the worst experiences of my life. The guy is a lying, cheating, good for nothing con artist who sucks at his job. The only thing he knows how to do is TAKE money. Stay away from this jackass. He will be a huge mistake.

I hired Joseph Duerr owner of Anthony's Painting Company on 6/2/18 Is he the same as Duerr painting? If not there are two con artists with the name Duerr. He said he would be done painting the outside front of house in 4 days told me they would be done June 8th, by 3:30, (NOT) and required half down payment, total job was $2800.00 with $1400.00 down, two days later ask for $200.00 more saying that he wanted to change product of paint for porch. My husband ask him, if we give you this job we expect good work and him said we would be so happy with work that we would recommend him to others. I ask him if he was going to be able to do the higher work OK and he said yes that he was going to bring in a lift and put between houses to reach fascia at roof line. Heck the guy could not even come up with extension ladder, did the higher work laying down on roof, and had a maybe 12 to 16 foot folding ladder that he put on front porch roof to reach third floor. They were not done on Fri. he said he would be back on Sat. then called to tell me that daughter had an event that he forgot about and would come Tue. morning I had someone going by checking progress while I was at work because 4 days past and very little work was accomplished when my friend went by he called and told me they were using paint rollers with long handle to reach high areas, stuff that should be painted with brush. Heck they even painted over wasp nest. One of his worker Ben told me when I asked him on Fri. where the ladders were, said that the guy who owned the ladders quit and took ladders with him. NO LIFT OR EXTENSION LADDER AT ALL. Most work was on third floor areas, there was a lot of work to be done up there and he knew this when he took on job. Said he could handle it. Heck he was using the paint for my home to do small paint job for my neighbors second floor windows he claims not but I stood and watched the guy Ben go back and forth with same container of paint. On Tues. when he came back to finish job he texted me some pictures saying that they needed filled with foam and then chalked, gave price $450.00 then changed it to $300.00 then changed it again to $350.00 at that point I told him I would have to call husband and talk with him about this. My husband called Joe and talked, he told Joe that his wife would get back to Joe but I was unable to get back to Joe right away due to work and when I did Joe said they already started the extra work and would be done with total job by 1:00. I ask him how this was possible when for 4 days they hardly accomplished anything. He claimed he had 2 extra workers with him that day. He wanted to know when he could get paid bal. for job and I told him I would have check work first, which I could tell he was not happy with. While driving home work my phone beeped letting me know I had text. When I got home and read it suddenly the job wasn't finish by 1:00 like he told me he would come by in the morning and do about an hour and half of work. When I checked job out it looked like a bunch of seventh graders painted, porch rails had lots of bare spots which he later said we picked at it with nails, I told him there was no way two coats of paint hit them rails. Porch floor had a lot of debris in the paint, there was bubbling in paint, did not scrape well some areas had paint lifting. My husband was up on Third floor taking pictures and whole job up there was poorly done, lots of bare areas I know they did not do 2 coats of paint. Besides how do you put 2 coats on from 8:30 to 1:00 in one day. They never even put in a full day they would come between 8:30 to 9:30 and would leave between 2:00 to 3:00. With all work left to do after 4 days 5 hours was not going to cut it. There was work on invoice, they didn't even do. When I texted him back I told him not to come back and he would not get one more cent from us. The whole job was very poorly done. My husband and I took lots of pictures. Of course he made a lot of threats lawyers, court, told me I would be sorry he claimed to have largest painting Co. in the US and that he had a $400,000.00 job on the books this went on and on. Told him to go to court because the pictures don't lie. He claimed Borough came up and looked at job and told him it was good. I called Borough next day and they said that was not true, another lie, he begged for us to call him. I did, then all he did is threaten me called me a liar, he said we had no intention of paying him. Heck he was right there when I called the credit union to transfer $3000.00 to checking acct. to write him deposit and money to pay when job was done. Then he texted me and said he was not mad at me but himself he counted on that money he was 11 days late with his rent. We agreed to go separate way and I would not post anything, but on 6/24 he texted threats to me and that negated my agreement with him so here I am. Make sure to pass this on, this guy lies, promises more than he can deliver.

I recently had a simular situation with J. Duerr of Anthony' Painting Company who I would not rate one star. I am sure we are talking same person. My husband and I recently hired him to paint front of home. Third floor needed alot of work, big job on front of home only. I ask him if he could handle this he said absolutley. He said cost would be $2800.00 and if we hired him that day he was going to throw in some extra painting, some side windows, front and underside of back balcony I gave him a check for $1400.00 then a couple days later he ask for $200.00 more and I gave, he said he wanted to change type of paint for porch. He promised all kinds of things powerwash all areas to be painted, scraping, sanding, painting prime and two coats of paint, chalk all area around windows, wood fill areas as needed do front porch etc..... This is the truth porch paint has all kinds of debris embedded in it, there is bubbling of the paint and some peeling up already. He was rarely at site most times a guy named Ben was there and did very sloppy work. They would get there anywhere from 8:30 to 9:30 and leave job by 2:00 to 3:00. job was suppose to be done by Fri. June 8 and was not. Joe extended it to Sat noon then called Fri. evening saying that his daughter had an event that Sat he needed to be at. He then said that they were calling for rain on Mon. so they would be back Tues. June 12th to finish. On Tues. he called me at work to say there were gaps along roof line that needed filled and it was going to cost me $450.00 then he changed it to $300.00 then changed it again to $350.00. I told him I would have to talk to husband. Husband called Joe he told Joe that I would get back to him. I was busy at work and was unable to get back to him and when I did he already started the work and told me they would be done by 1 o'clock and wanted to know when I could cut him a check for balance of job. I told him I needed to check work first because by Fri. the 8th they were only about 1/6 of the way done now in one morning they were going to complete balance of job 5/6, that same day I looked him up on BBB by his Contractors License number PA136832 and found out there were claims against him, so I was not going to pay him till my husband and I looked to see what kind of job he did because by this time things were not looking good, when I got home to look my husband was already up on third floor taking pictures the paint job was horrible absolutely not two coats or primed and one coat, large areas of bare wood, heck one of them painted over wasp nest left it there. Like I said porch floor was bad porch rails has lots of bare areas he said that we were scratching at them with a nails. He didn't even do all that was on invoice, that day while driving home I got a text, when I got home to look at text it was from Joe saying that he would be back in the morning that he suddenly had about an 1 1/2 hours of work left to be done. From my point of view there was alot more needed done then 1 1/2 hours work. After seeing what kind of work they had done to that point I texted him and told not to come back that painting was terrible and he would get no more money from us. He then accused me of not intending to pay balance all along and he was right there we I called my bank and transferred $3000.00 from saving to checking, at which point I wrote a check for $1400.00 to start work. He was very angry made many threats claimed that he was largest painting company in the United States and he was going after me for balance. He texted me all kinds of nonsense, then texts me that he is angry at self that he really needed the money and depended on getting balance that day, that he was 11 days behind in rent etc.... after many texts back and forth, he agreed to let thing go provided that I did not post anything about him on social media and BBB we agreed, this was June 12th. Then on Sun morning June 24th at 6:59 AM I got a text with all kinds of threats. Lawyers, leins on my property it went on an on so that negated our agreement and now I posting about him I agree with user in Strasburg we can't keep letting people like Joe get away with cheating people with shoddy work. This guy claims to be biggest painting Co. in US and does not even have extension ladder to do high work. We have one large area on box gutter that he didn't even paint because he could not reach it with the small folding ladder of maybe 12 to 18 feet. When I asked him before hiring him are they going to be able to reach those high area and he told me they would be bringing in a lift to do high work, which they never did they laid on roof to paint some of the high stuff. His worker Ben told me that the guy who had all the ladders quit and took all the ladders with him. He lied and lied over and over. Numerous time I had someone go by house for updates and most of the time there was only guy named Ben there. I agree with Regina thief and liar. I contact States Attorneys Office.

By a user in StrasburgJanuary 15, 20182Paint interior of the house$3,000
This is all true. He promised he would be done painting a whole house in 4 days, and required half a down payment. After 4 days, he and his partner spent 12 hours there and had 2 half rooms painted. I had a huge event coming up, so I fired him. I was willing to pay for the man hours and paint, but now he won’t return my calls or texts. He talked me into this, as I wanted to go after the holidays, but swore he would be done. On the second day, he asked for an additional $500 for drywall work, which never materialized. We are senior citizens on a fixed income, and are out $2000. I know you have all lost money too. He is a con artist and Its deplorable to do this to people. I’m going to the better business bureau and writing to Lnp as that he is where I saw a lovely article about what a great man he is. Any suggestions on where everyone is headed to try to get their money returned? I’m willing to pay for the little bit he did, even though the workmanship is horrible. We can’t let him keep doing this to people.

We had to take him to court because he didn’t finish the job we paid him for. We won, but he has not paid us back as the court ordered. What an unpleasant experience. Please avoid hiring him
