Claimant says:
"I received a shopper's advertisement magazine in the mail.I saw DUN-Well Inc.'s ad which advertised among other things, cleaning gutters for $50 and a free 12 PT. roof and chimney inspection.I called the company on 9/16/14 to get an appointment(which I did) and it was scheduled for 9/18/14.No one showed up or called. On 9/24/14, I called again and complained about the no show/no call. They then set up an appointment for 9/25/14 (which they did show up for)All I wanted was my gutters cleaned and the inspection. They checked the chimney in the attic...told me it was cracked and that it would cost me $1650 to fix. I said okay(at this point I have not seen/gotten a contract) So one of the workers is in my attic and I can hear him I guess, chisling away. A little while later, one of the guys(Lee) tells me he has to go get parts,he'll be back in an hour.He wasn't back for 2 hours.I was sitting in my livingroom when he came back.He comes to me and tells me to come outside.I go outside and there is another guy on the roof. He's standing next to my chimney and he says "look at this, you're chimney's cracked" and he grabs it and pushes it and it tilts. He says "you got a crack here" and he points and shows me where. He says "this needs to be fixed" So i kinda mumbled okay. Now mind you, still no contract,no price quoted to me.He starts tearing down my chimney. Finally, around 5:30 in the afternoon Lee writes up a contract and hands it to me.$6250!!!! I was dumfounded.I figured I got a hole in my roof I have no choice but to sign it,which i did.I gave him $2400 as a deposit(every penny I had in my checking) He had asked for $3000 but i didn't have it.He went outside and i sat in my livingroom crying....trying to figure out how I was going to pay my monthly bills after giving him all my money.Later, i called a friend.told her what happened, and her son (who's a roofer by trade) told me i got ripped off and that I should put a stop on the check.I tried to do it online but apparently it was too late.It was already being deposited.I wrote a letter to cancel the contract(3 day period to do so).I and my friend's son spoke quiet a few times to Lee and he was willing to give me back a portion of the money. He had even come back on the 26th and said he'd do the job for $3000.And I told him no. So I had to dispose of the bricks he left on the side of my house. I had my friend's son reroof the whole house 30'x60'(including tear-off) for $5000 including materials. And too boot, I never got my gutters cleaned!!!! I spoke to Lee again on 10/6/14 at approx. 5:15p and we agreed on a money amount to be returned. As of today,10/11/14, I have not gotten anything in the mail. I left a msg. on Lee's cell phone at 6:00 stating I would call the better business bureau, angie's list, home advisor and possibly a lawyer. It is now 11:03p and I have not gotten a return call. Also, I had pipes put in to replace the chimney by an hvac person who told me that chimneys used just for venting purposes are obsolete. This company wanted to build me a partial chimney."
SAME STORY AS ABOVE FOR US. MY HUSBAND PAID AROUND 900 WHICH WAS NEVER RETURNED. THEY TRIED TO BREAK OUR ROOF TO REBUILD IT.
