This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. Didn’t complete the job and left us with a bill with a subcontractor he used. Please learn from our lesson and stay away from him.

We paid Troy 90% of the contract, as he kept needing more money. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, he finished maybe 50% of the work. As soon as he realized he was upside down on our job he left us high and dry. Troy left us 5 months after he started with virtually a gutted house, with some sheetrock up. Thankfully, he at least hooked up the toilet right before he left. Other than that, no running water inside the house, and only half the house with electricity, no bathroom, no kitchen. After he quit showing up, he would no longer answer our texts, emails, or calls. We did get one email from him apologizing for the bad experience, and proceeded to tell us his mom was his business manager and that all calls need to go through her now. We started calling his mom who would respond and give us some story to hold us off for a week. Every week for a month his mom promised he'd be back on the job on such and such day, then he'd never show that day. Threatening legal action did nothing. It wasn't until we got the Sheriff's office involved, that we at least secured all our appliances, cabinetry, lighting, doors, etc., that he had put into a storage unit until he was "ready to put them in." We were scared he was going to run off with those too. Our quoted 6-week kitchen, bath, laundry remodel that we figured would probably take him closer to 12-weeks ended up turning into 5 months when he loaded up his trailer, never to return. It was another 4 months before we found another very sympathetic contractor willing to pick up and finish what Troy started and get us back into our home about 2 months later. That in itself is a miracle! We had to get two other loans and essentially paid for this remodel twice. He royally screwed us over and the subcontractors he hired. My husband is the same age as his mom...looking toward retirement. His actions (or rather lack of) changed the landscape of our future. He's very slick, talks a great talk. I was told his license in Sturgis was revoked. Hopefully, the same happens in Rapid City.
