Contracted to build a concrete workshop. Wanted funds upfront prior to each phase. The first phase was the footings and concrete walls. The second phase included trusses as the first portion. I had paid a total of $18,000 in advance for this portion of the second phase.
Problem: No inspections were called in to the building department. The footings were above the frost line which required a structural engineer to draw up structural fixes to cure the frost level issue. This added several thousand dollars to rectify. The permit was expiring and there were multiple delays and excused. So I terminated his services and am in the process of disputing the charge for the trusses and labor that were never ordered and not installed. Also the foundation walls were developing cracks which indicates insufficient or no rebar. A big ripoff.
